Pure envy (Part 4 / 4)

While you were waiting for the task to begin, you watched how the stands filled with students and teachers. This time you tried to spot your friends and you grinned at them when you saw them. Suddenly someone put a hand on your shoulder and when you turned around, you saw your father behind you. McGonagall explained that she and other teachers would be patrolling the outside of the maze and you'd have to send red sparks into the air if you wished to leave the maze. Then Bagman continued and announced the points each of you had before he told you and Harry, who both were in the first place to get ready to enter. So you threw the fourthyear a look, nodded friendly and stepped closer to the hedges.

"Three, two, one" The whistle could be heard and you started running into the maze. As soon as you were sure that no one could see you, you raised your wand.

"Accio Triwizard Cup" you said and waited. But nothing happened. So you shrugged and decided to go and look for it. Whenever you passed by a crossing, you marked the direction from which you came with an 'X' so that you wouldn't go in circles. Suddenly a strange beast was in front of you behind him others. Soon you found out it were Blast-Ended Skrewts so you hurried to get cover. However, they did not intend to let you escape just like. When you finally got rid of them you were sure the end of your ponytail was singed. Suddenly you saw Harry in front of you and he turned around. "Only me. If I were you I wouldn't go this way. Blast-Ended Skrewts. Barely escaped" you said. He nodded.

"Thanks." And then you parted ways again.

In the next minutes or hours you had to deal with different creatures, among others an Ashwinder, a swarm of pixies, something that looked like a hog, a Quintaped (it looked like a spider with five legs) and something like a swamp that tried to attack you. Apart from that there were parts in the maze where the hedges were alive and tried to stop you.

Suddenly you found yourself in front of a Sphinx and you did not know if it was clever to attack. But before you could do anything she looked at you rather friendly.

"You are near. And the quickest way is past me"

"And I guess you won't just let me pass, will you?" you asked.

"No. But if you can solve my riddle I will. But if you answer wrong, I will attack you. If you choose to remain silent, I will let you go back unharmed" you almost started laughing. Being a Ravenclaw meant, you had to hear and solve a riddle each day in order to get to your dorm.

"Alright. Tell me your riddle" she smiled in a mysterious way and sat down.

"At the beginning there is a drinkable letter.
The second part is if no one else is better.
When you smartly add it to the first part,
You'll have a friend that was with you from the start"

"Do you mind if I take a moment?" she said nothing but you assumed it was okay. "Alright. A drinkable letter... maybe a letter in a bottle?" you murmured "No, you can't drink the letter then. Maybe it's some sort of a product's name" you snorted and turned to the Sphinx. "May I hear the rest of it again?" She simply recited all of it. "When no one else is better... pass your exams? A best pupil? No doesn't make sense... when you get a job? Err... Well maybe I should go for the whole word then... A friend that was with me from the start. Um... depends on what start means. I met my friends in my first year, if that is the start. No, I became friends with Fred and George later. But does that count as a start as well?" you started pacing in front of the Sphinx. "I mean, I knew them from the start, but we weren't friends. Okay they were before, but... wait! From the start could also be the very start of your life." you shrieked in victory. "A letter you can drink. Tea! If no one is better you win. Added together a twin. A friend you know since birth, the start of your life. A twin"
