Zoe laughed, smile wide. "Daniel~ you won't believe what happened! Zack started crying and kneeling in front of this big, buff guy that he spilled beer on. It's hilarious, watching him when he's drunk! Then a bunch of the buff guys friends came and we had to scramble. I've never seen those three idiots run so fast before."
Daniel nods, nerves prickling while the girl beamed, animated telling the rest of her story. Her bento swayed from side to side as they walked down the hall.
He was glad he'd missed most of the trouble. He'd have to thank that little kitten if he sees her again. Big, buff guys scared him. And friends of big, buff guys. And big, buff guys chasing people. And. . .
"Daniel, you okay?" Zoe asks. She stops in the middle of the hall, halting the wild swinging of her lunch box.
The boy stops, blinking away the image of a large rhino man chasing him. He smiled sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck.
Really, he needed to stop thinking about such stupid things.
Stupid, scary things.
Zoe tilts her head to the side, short, dark hair bobbing along. "Oh hey, Daniel I've been thinking about making an account on Paprika. I heard if you're popular enough you could make some good cash. Ever thought about it?"
". . . Not really. . .I don't know, I don't think I'd be good enough," Daniel says.
Zoe laughs. "Just talk about kittens, or ice cream or something. With your looks I'm sure you'll be making money in no time."
Daniel nodded along but really he didn't believe her. No one would be interested in me talking about kittens.
Kittens. . . He did like kittens though. And puppies.
"Oh! Hey, Jay!" Zoe shouts loudly.
The blonde pops out of the crowd, confused that his classmate randomly stopped him in the hallway. Then he seems to see Daniel and his expression clears. He smiles.
Daniel smiles back, his fingers starting to fiddle with the bottom of his faded t-shirt. A stylish, red scarf wraps around the blonde's neck, standing out effectively against his black jacket. The material shifts and little red spots slide into view.
Daniel covers his mouth, forcing himself to look away. Hickies.
Shit. I gave him those.
And they were still visible.
Jay stops next to them, moving out of the bustling wave of students.
"Hi, Jay," Daniel greets him, eyes drifting toward the scarf.
Zoe grabs Daniel's arm casually. "I know you took Daniel to spend a night at your house and - oh that reminds me. Where do you live?" Her words are nonchalant but echo dully, not expecting an anwer.
Jay ignores her, stiffly pointing down the hall.
"Oh, you have to leave? It sucks you can't join us for lunch. Next time? That sounds great." Daniel smiles, making an effort not to be disappointed when the boy walks down the hallways and dissappears.
That's it, I was right. He hates me.
The negative emotions wrap around him like a poisonous snake, the fangs sinking into his heart.
Daniel couldn't remember much of Friday night. But behind his eyelids he could just see soft, furious lips and flashes of blonde. He did know that he pressed him up against the wall roughly. And sucked his neck. . .and finger. . .and. . .
Instantly the disappointment turned to frustration and annoyance. Why'd I have to go and ruin it all? I shouldn't even consider the notion of him being gay - let alone for him to have feelings for me. What did I expect? That maybe I'm attractive enough in this body to be loved? It never would have worked anyway.
Not with my other body.
It would all be a lie.
Those thoughts went on and on. A constant circle of emotions, recycling and reshaping.
But no matter what Daniel told himself his mind kept flitting to one tempting, sinful thought.
Jay in a kitten costume.
He didn't know how those thoughts mashed together. It might have started with imagining Jay semi-nude. Then completely nude. Then how the kitten would have interrupted that. Then. . .
He hated his thought process sometimes.
But still, the thought plagued him throughout the entire school day. Tormenting him through his work shift. Nagging him for a few more days until he accepted the fact: he wanted to see Jay in a god-damn kitty-costume. Naked. With little kitty ears and a tail.
He covered his face in shame. How could he think about Jay in that way?
Throughout the next few days Jay didn't eat lunch with him, he kept finding vague excuses to go elsewhere. He rushed back home every day and came to school right before the bell rang.
After the acceptance of Daniel's little fetish, other thoughts started flooding in.
Jay in a puppy-costume. Panda. Tiger. Bunny. Hell, there was even a mouse in the mix.
The most recent and tempting of all was the fox costume. Now that's a turn on. . .
"Mister Yeol. . .let me get this straight. You need to leave during the testing period to visit overseas?"
On his way to deliver a note, Daniel stops in his tracks.
He peeks his head around the corner, seeing the old office woman shake her head dissaprovingly. "It's the worst time to leave. I know your father wants you there, but could you ask him to reconsider? . . . You've already asked him? Oh, I understand but. . ."
The coversation trickles on, Daniel biting his lip in worry as his mind processes the new information.
When the brunette is about to leave and finish delivering the note, Jay turns around.
Daniel sucks in a breath, blushing in shame for being caught.
That's when Jay's lips slide into a half-smile and he presses his fingers to his lips.
'Keep it a secret. . .' He seems to say.
The boy dumbly nods, preparing to awkwardly run off when he feels a gentle hand grab his soulder.
Jay strides out of the office, the old lady facing the wall and blathering about children not getting proper education. He grabs Daniel's hand and drags him down the hall. His scarf is now gone but there are a few bandaids smattering the blonde's light skin.
Daniel's palms begin to prickle with sweat. This was not the best time to imagine Jay in a fox-costume.
But still. He couldn't help it. Jay would make one sexy fox.
