We all are stranger creatures then when we started out. Sad creatures, bound by veiled smiles and half truths.
Jay was the most miserable of all. A dark creature. . .and he couldn't help but watch the light. He was seduced by its purity and reached out his hands, but didn't dare touch. His breath hovered, shallow and light. On the brink of suffocation.
It was like being burned, every moment spent thinking about Daniel.
He carried on through his business in America, letting the long stream of numbers flash before his eyes as he typed response after response. His eyes flickered between screens for hours on end. His only company was the butler at his side, delivering messages and setting down trays of food.
It was time to set aside his school life and work on the business his family had been pressuring him into for years.
It was the perfect excuse. The perfect get away from Daniel.
But the escape was less than perfect.
The days were dull and productive. . . but the nights. They were disgusting. Selfish. Beautiful.
They were what kept balance with the aimlessness of the day.
Because at night. . .when Jay was laying in the dark. . .he could almost feel it. Could almost touch, and smell, and taste him.
Daniel right beside him, sitting down and turning his body towards Jay in welcome and warmth. Arms reaching and fingers soft. His dark eyes glistening in the faint blinking city lights.
Those were the beautiful nights, where he stayed up for hours just to live in one more second of fantasy.
But those disgusting nights. Those were the ones that came the most the last few weeks. Where Jay clutched the blanket against himself, and rolled his head back - let out the sinful sounds he craved Daniel to hear. And he breathed, hard. Breathed until he was dizzy and could almost convince himself it was Daniel in his arms making him feel so fucking good.
Not a god damn pillow.
Each moment Jay fucked himself, thinking about Daniel became so much more hideous. It was an addiction he couldn't stop.
He couldn't stand himself. Each time he crashed down from his high - slick with sweat - he became more sick or who he was.
He didn't know how it could possibly happen. How did he get so infatuated with someone he'd only known for such a small amount of time? There was something about Daniel that he desired, but wouldn't dare touch. He continued to fantasize. . .obsession spread like the disease on his skin.
Under all the stress the disease expanded and now crawled up to the tip of his nose and inched down his cheeks. His eyes were losing more pigment and after a few weeks more, they were a few shades too light for his usual dark blue.
And then was when he got it. The news, leaving the butlers shriveled lips in a few words.
The news that continued to grow his obsession.
