Suddenly we hear a honk and we see a tow truck.

"Well took them long enough." he says.

"Hey!"I protest. "I'm fun." Exactly what a "fun" person would say.

"I'm kidding of course you're fun!" He laughs. "I had fun, the most fun since I don't know when." he says.

"Me too." I say genuinely.

After getting home I take a long hot bath and discover that I caught a cold.

Dammit.

Well at least I don't have to go to school tomorrow, plus I didn't do my work and honestly if I got detention one more time it would go on my permanent record.

I looked down and saw that I had a text, it was from Kevin, he and I exchanged numbers on the car ride home, I couldn't help smile.

I learnt that we shouldn't judge a book by its cover, I mean take Kevin for example, at first I thought that he was going to be a stuck up snob but he turned out to be the opposite, Kevin was as sweet as they came.

I had fun today :)

I smiled and wrote back me too

How you feeling now?

Caught a damn cold

:( oh sorry.

Its ok, not actually your fault

Well get well soon, have to go. good night Scarlett.

Good night Kevin.

And I got another text I looked down it was from mom.

Won't get home until late, don't wait up for me and will have to fly to Chicago tomorrow, don't know when I'll be back.
Helen can't come until next week her son is sick or something so manage until then.

k I text back and go to bed.

Helen was my nanny and she came and took care of me when mum wasn't there, which was almost all the time.

I was sick and my mom wasn't even there, she didn't even know I was sick she didn't even bother to call or check in on me all she did was write that damn text.

I was on the verge of tears I'm an unwanted bag of rocks I thought as I hastily blinked back my unshed tears, to think that I would have gotten use to her abandoning me.

When I woke up the next day I was feeling terrible, my throat hurt badly, I had a head and a back ache and the worst thing was that there was no one to take care of me.

I tried not to think about that but it was hard.

God did she even care? Was she even aware that she had a daughter?

I suddenly get call; I pick it up without looking at the caller ID.

"Hello?" I croak. Oh god I sound terrible.

"Oh god you sound terrible." It's Kevin.

"Well good morning to you too." I say.

"Sorry." he says. "I guess you won't be coming to school."

"Congratulations genius." I say. "Well someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed." he says with a trace of annoyance. "What's got up your butt."

"Well if you must know then my mom left for Chicago and-"

"SHE WHAT?" he practically screams. "She left you while you're sick?"

"Well in her defense she didn't even know I was sick." I say.
