THIRTEEN

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

WE JOINED THE SERPENTS...

"Right, so you are all set and ready to go! Do you have any questions before we let you leave?" My nurse asked me as she wrote my discharge letter.

"No, I think I'm good. I just want to get out of here really" I said with an airy laugh on the end.

She smiled before giving me the letter and heading out of the room giving me time to collect my things and get ready to leave.

"Iz, we're meeting everyone at the Whrym, all the Serpents were really worried about you so we are just popping in and then heading home so you can rest" Jughead explained picking up my bags as I wasn't really ready to carry heavy things at the moment.

We finally made it to our destination, hopping out of the cab that we took. The second I looked up at the building my body completely froze. Flashbacks of that night ran through my mind causing me to start to turn around. Instantaneously, Jughead grabbed my shoulders and steered me back in the right direction. "Iz, you have nothing to worry about. All the Serpents are here to protect you" I let out a deep breath before walking up to the Whrym on my own.

The second I walked in, there were cheers everywhere and people were giving me hugs and pats on the back saying things like...

"I'm so glad you're okay"

"I hope you feel better soon"

"I'm gonna kill that bastard"

Well, the last one was Sweet Pea but anyway, I knew the second that I walked in that this was the safest place for me to be in. We walked around for a while and had a few conversations but Jughead and I said that we should go and visit dad considering we haven't seen him in a while.

I was a little nervous walking in as I knew that we had to tell him that we joined the Serpents which I don't think he will be very proud of. The second I saw him, all my nerves went away and were replaced with happiness at seeing the man that had brought Jughead and I up. Although he hasn't been the best dad in the world, I still love him.

"Hey, dad" Jughead and I said at the same time.

Our dad chuckled before replying "you guys used to always talk at the same time when you were little. Now, what brings you all the way here to talk to your old man?" He asked us.

I looked at Jughead nervously before he replied "Iz and me, umm... we joined the Serpents"

"You what?! Iz, you actually did the Serpent dance? And Jug, you actually let her do that?"

"Dad you can't protect me forever ok, I need to grow up at some point"

"Iz, I didn't want you to grow up like that!"

"Look I'm sorry ok, but I'm really happy with them. I feel protected which is what I need after the accident"

FP sighed before answering her "I know, I just don't want to see my little girl growing up I guess. I heard about what happened, news travels fast when the leader of the Serpents daughter gets shot. How are you two after everything?"

"We are much better now" Jughead reassured him. After a brief chat about everything that had been going on, we went back to the trailer where Archie rocked up about an hour later.

"Archie," Jughead said as he and I walked out

"We gotta talk Jug and Iz"

"Arch now is really not a good time," I told him as both of us walked down the steps.

"You've gotta go. I'm serious Archie. You have to go, now!" Jughead tried to persuade him to leave placing his hands on Archies shoulders.

"What the hell do we have here?" Sweet Pea asked loudly as he came round the corner with Fangs and some other Serpents.

"Sweets he was just leaving," I said walking up to Sweet Pea.

"Wait, you're friends with these thugs?" Archie asked in distaste.

"It's not what you think" Jughead tried to reason walking around the back of Archie to stand beside me in front of the other Serpents.

"Did you join the Serpents?" Archie asked Jughead.

"Oh, they both did" Sweet Pea answered for him walking beside me and putting his arm around me. I instantly pushed his arm away resulting in him giving me a hurt look. This made him even angrier "And go ahead and call us thugs one more time" He challenged Archie.

"Iz, you too? You guys, these are the people who attacked me, who attacked Reggie, Veronica, Dilton, your friends"

"Wait, is that why you're here?" Jughead asked taking a step closer to Archie. "To warn us?"

"No, I came here to tell you to stay away from Betty. She doesn't want to see you anymore" I took a step towards Archie, next to Jughead to make sure I just heard correctly.

"What?" I asked in shock.

"You too, Iz. She doesn't want to see either of you" I looked at him hurt by what he had just said.

"Screw you. I just saw Betty yesterday. She... She was fine" Jughead tried to defend himself.

"No, dude. She's been wanting to break up with you for weeks. She's been agonising over it. Since you crossed the dark side. She couldn't bring herself to do it" Archie explained.

"So she sent you? Betty wouldn't do that" I added to try and help Jughead who agreed with me.

"If you don't believe me call her. Feel free to tell her you're a Serpent now too. Both of you. I bet she'll love that" Archie looked at both of us before taking a step towards Jughead "She saw where you were headed, Jughead. We all did. And she knows you can't be with them and with her. Come on man. You know it too"

"Tell Betty I got the message" Jughead replied without any emotion. Archie said a quick yeah before leaving. Jughead turned to the Serpents "What. Did you enjoy the show?" He shouted at them before walking back inside. The Serpents started to disperse but Sweet Pea grabbed ahold of my arm before I could go inside.

"Hey, what was that back there?" He asked slightly confused.

"Arch is my friend Sweets, I don't want to make any of this harder for him"

"Do you care about 'Arch' more than me?"

"No of course not" I replied quickly putting my hands on his cheeks. I went onto my tiptoes to give him a soft kiss on his lips. "I just don't want to hurt him any more than he already is ok?"

"Ok" He whispered bringing me into a hug.
