TWELVE

CHAPTER TWELVE

THE HOSPITAL

I woke up to bright white walls and the sound of a continues to beep. My eyes blurred slightly before adjusting to the blindingly light colour of the four walls that surrounded me. I noticed other people in the room. One with a grey beanie on, Jughead, one with pink streaks in her hair, Toni and then one with a smirk and long black hair, Sweet Pea.

"Hey sis, how ya feeling?" Jughead asked me taking my hand in his.

"Like shit"

My group of friends and brother snickered slightly shaking their heads at the fact that I could still joke at a time like this.

"So when am I getting out of here?" I asked as a nurse walked in to check up on me.

"I would say in the next few days just to make sure that you are stable" She replied checking my drip and my monitor. She patted my hand smiling before closing the door on her way out.

I groaned throwing my head back. I stood up picking up my clothes and was about to start walking before Jughead pushed me back onto the bed "Woah Woah Woah, where do you think you're going?" He said as he moved me.

"You guys actually think I'm gonna sit here for days doing nothing?" I asked them scoffing and folding my arms over one another.

Sweet Pea rolled his eyes before crouching down in front of me "Iz, you were shot. This means you have to rest and allow yourself to heal okay? We don't want you getting even more hurt" He explained taking my hand in his. I sighed before falling back onto the bed flinching slightly at the impact on my wound. Sweet Pea sat next to me on the bed and put his arm behind the pillow I was laying on.

We were having a general conversation when the door opened and Archie, Veronica, Betty, Kevin and Reggie all walked in the door. They stopped at the sight of all the Serpents stood around me, Reggie looking at Sweet Pea in jealousy seeing him so close to me. Sweet Pea noticed this and decided to move closer to me bringing his arm around my shoulder making me roll my eyes.

Betty was the first to walk fully inside, her eyes were glistening with tears as she took Jugheads place next to me giving me a light but loving hug "God Iz, we were so worried about you" She pulled away smiling at me softly. Kevin then walked up behind her placing his hands on her shoulders and giving me a smile and a nod.

"There's nothing to worry about Bets, I'm fine now and that's all that matters" I smiled back taking her hand in mine and giving it a little squeeze.

Archie and Veronica then walked up beside her hand in hand. "Lizzy I swear I'm gonna find that guy and repay him for what he did to you and my dad. I am so sorry that this happened. God, it's all my fault! If only I had not frozen at Pops then I could have caught the guy"

"Arch, none of this is your fault. Please stop beating yourself up about it, it's just a lunatic with a gun" I tried to reassure him "I'm sure the police are gonna catch him"

Reggie thought it was a good time to walk up to Sweet Pea and question his presence. "Why is there Southside scum here? And who the hell are you? Get your hands off of her" He grabbed Sweet Pea and yanked him off the bed. Instantly Sweet Pea was face to face with Reggie.

Sweet Pea pushed Reggie back and stepped towards him intimidatingly "You don't tell me what to do Northsider. She can speak for herself"

Reggie looked at me over Sweet Pea's shoulder "Fine. Iz who do you want to stay, me or him?" He asked. Sweet Pea turned to look at me expecting an answer as well.

"Sweets, are you being serious right now?"

"Just answer the man"

I groaned. They are unbelievable. I looked between the two just to check that they weren't joking. My eyes connected with Sweet Peas not even glancing at Reggie anymore.

"Right. I get it" Reggie said once he realised who I was looking at.

"No, Reg wait!" I tried to stand up but my stomach was in agony. I fell back onto the bed as tears started to leak out of my eyes. Not just from the pain of my wound but from the fact that the guy who knew everything about me just walked out in my time of need. Even though we broke thing off harshly, he was still my first love. I would never stop loving him, even if the feelings weren't reciprocated. Betty rubbed my arm as I brought my hands to my face trying to hide the tears.

It was late now so everyone had left either to go home and get some sleep or go out to get some food. I was laying in bed just staring at the ceiling when I noticed Sweet Pea walk into the room. I sighed turning to my side facing away from him pretending that I was asleep, not wanting to talk to him after everything that went down.

"Iz, I know you probably can't hear me but I thought that I should let you know that I really like you. When I heard the shot I ran straight over noticing the Serpent jacket but when I caught the person and saw it was you I literally think my heart fell out of my chest. You don't have to like me back, I know that what I did today probably put you off me but whether or not you do feel the same way, I'm gonna protect you as much as I can."

"I like you too Sweet Pea. A lot" I said turning round to him. He lifted his head up from the hunched over the position he was in, sitting in the chair next to my bed. He smiled before leaning over to me and placing his lips onto mine for a soft but passionate kiss. Both of his hands were placed on my cheeks caressing them lightly. We pulled away from each other and laughed softly in shock from the eventful day that we shared together.
