Dev crashed down next to Amit and Ved after guiding everyone through 2hours of football practice. It required immense concentration and hardwork and the fact that he was the captain it meant everyone looked up to him. He always had to be the best.
It always required his full concentration because if you miss out at any point, you could actually miss out on a goal. That day , however it was almost impossible. He had been thinking about Annie and couldn't stop it no matter how hard he tried. The constant urge to text her was always there but he didn't want to seem over eager. She was so different from him, totally opposite and yet they couldn't be more same. Hell! She had even made him start reading a book. Although it was kind of nice , he was actually enjoying it.
They used to argue at smallest of things but mostly it was she who won. After his breakup he had distanced himself from girls but he couldn't help but getting drawn towards her.

"That's different, you almost were not a total asshole to other people and you almost don't look depressed", Ved quipped while they were sitting on school 's field.

"Yeah! Whatever".he replied without showing any interest in the conversation.
"I am just saying, it's nice to see a glimpse of old dev once in a while". Then they all went back to staring at the sky.

"There's this girl", dev started. This caught both of their attention as they abruptly sat up and asked him to go on.
"Well i met her on Wattpad. She is this insanely genius  and cheerful spirit. So I thought maybe I should try it too".
"Wait a second, you are talking to a girl?".Amit asked totally shocked.
"It's not like I don't talk to girls".
Amit just stared back giving him a yeah-you-don't look.

"Anyways I don't even know her name let alone who she is. We just decided that we would figure each other out on our own".

Ved just stared back at him. He was really happy. Then he added on after a few seconds. "As long as you are even trying dev I am happy. It's amazing, but make your choices wisely this time ok. Because if this girl turned out like that bitch jahanvi I am going to make her life a living hell."
After saying this he left. It had broken him seeing dev like this . They had known each other since like forever.
In the last few months they had fought a lot because Everytime he tried getting him out of his exile, dev would snuggle back right in. He was so intent on leading a miserable life and staying depressed, that it infuriated Ved so much. He still remembered the countless texts he had sent the calls which remained unattended. He had tried everything but dev refused to give in. He had lost hope untill this girl. She just might teach dev again what it means to be loved and to love someone else.
