"So where do you plan on taking me," Alexia asked for like the fiftieth time.
"Somewhere I know of and a place I doubt they will come looking for us," I said again for the like the fiftieth time.
She stayed quiet then. We've been on the road for several hours now. Once we ran out of the my room back at the institute we went to the garage and took my car. For the first hour I drove as fast as I could with no particular place in mind. An hour after that Alexia asked where we were going and also pointed out That I was starting to run out of gas. We stopped at a gasoline station. While I was pumping gas I came up with a place for me and Alexia to stay for a while.
Back on the road I received a bunch of calls from my dad. I ignored them. Alexia didn't say anything she just kept looking out the window. I received so many calls to the point where I just turned off my phone. I kept driving as fast as I could. It also helped that I had put glamour on the car before we left. Hours passed and Alexia eventually fell asleep. I knew where I wanted to go. It would be far enough where dad couldn't possibly guess.
The place I wanted to take us to was a place where I've been at several times in my life. It was halfway down California. Before my mom and dad divorced there was a place we went to every three years. We went to visit my cousin Eric and we stayed there for about a week. Every time we visited my parents and I would stay in a small cabin near the beach. The cabin should be empty since the last time we visited was last year.
I kept driving until sunrise.
I moved us over to a restaurant to have breakfast. We were sitting at a Waffle House when Alexia finally spoke.
"You have to rest eventually. You can't keep driving forever," she said.
I looked up from my tea,"I know. I just wanted to keep on going until I could go no longer."
"Well you need to sleep now if you plan on driving all night again," was all she said.
It was weird to me that she didn't ask so many questions. I also didn't like feeling like a stranger to her. But I do wonder what Alexia is thinking right now. Right when I was going to ask the waitress came with our food.
When we finished eating I paid the ticket. Luckily I had brought my wallet and still had a good amount of money in it.
In a matter of minutes I found a small motel we could stay in and rest. I walked up the lady in the check up desk with Alexia behind me.
"Hi, would you happen to have any rooms available?" I asked.
The lady looked from Alexia to me several times then smiled. "Sure. For how many?"
This idiot, "two please."
She handed me a key and a card after I paid.
We were in room 109. I told Alexia to start heading up while I grabbed our bags from the car. I knocked on the door once I came back. Alexia opened. The room was plain. Once white walls now looked brown and cracked, the floors with stains. The window was cracked and with a small torn curtain.
I laid the two bags on the single bed.
"You can go clean up first and I'll wait here," I said.
Alexia nodded and grabbed her bag, she went inside the bathroom and locked herself in.
I sat on the bed and took my shoes off. I started to calculate how much longer I had left until we reached the small place I want us to get to. But then, what would I do once I got there? How could I get this demon out of Alexia. I need to do some research on warlocks that would be nearby. The only way I could get this would be by asking Alexia. But first I had to reach her.
