Chapter 4

One month later; Floor 3: dungeon

"SWITCH!" I shouted at Emily, frantically slashing at the enemy's legs then backing up to regain some HP. Even though it has only been one month, making it to floor 3, and only having 1,000 casualties, it has not been that bad. Lately, I have been helping my partner build up her skills and level, and now she is at level 8 while I am at level 20, 'cuz I was a beta-tester.

"Done..." Emily sighed, she only lost 20% of her HP that time, and she leveled up to lv. 9 as well.

"Good job, you were amazing out there today!" I replied

I looked up at the sky, wondering, is this really what Kayaba Yuko wanted this world to become? A land were the need to survive is more important than it could ever be in the real world right now.

"Hey, Emily, we should be going now, it will be getting dark soon..."

"Alright, let's head back then." She replied

Suddenly a panicked shout in the distance was heard, "HELP, someone HELP, please!"

We both looked at each other and knew exactly what to do at that point.

"Help is on the way" I shouted ahead, not knowing if it was a trap or a real need for help, we blindly ran farther into the dungeon.

"GAH!" I said startled, the person who shouted out to us was right there. Along with the guy who shouted, there was a whole party of them, and the fight did not look like it was going their way. "Hey! We are here to help, just stand back. Ok?"

"Alright... <pant> Just please end the fight..." he said, I identified him as 'Link', hm, never seen him before. "Ok, Em?"

"Yeah?" my partner replied

"Let's go!" as I said that, the battle started.

It was a high-level monster with a one-handed long sword, no sheild. It would focus on power, not speed, so I would have the advantage. As I charged in with my rapier, I started a 'Sword Skill' which gives me more accuracy then just swinging the sword normally would. So I activated the 'Lightning Strike' skill, and got a three hit combo that gives three consecutive hits of high speed steel. Even though it doesn't effect the enemies HP much, it is a good thing to be able to use in a fight. A few skills later, and a switch with Em, the monster disappeared in an explosion of little polygons.

"Thank you for saving us..." Link said

"It's really no problem, but what were you guys doing in this part of the dungeon anyway?" I asked

"Well," he said, "We thought we could do some higher level dungeons to level up faster, and if you reach lv. 10 then we can join the elites at the front lines on floor 5. That is the ultimate goal for the guild 'Steel Knights'."

"I see, well if you just go to the upper fields surrounding the town here, it would be just the same after awhile as going through this part of the dungeon would... Wait you are all in a guild? That's cool... Em and I just party together all the time, but that is just because two people is just too small for a guild." I said

"Oh, well we would like to thank you two for saving us, so thank you. Thanks to you we did not lose any of our comrades in battle today, and to that there is nothing better than our gratitude for thanks." Link said

"Ok, well have a good evening." I said with a wave

"Yeah, bye!" Em said as we were walking towards the town,"That was a nice thing we did today wasn't it? I also leveled up to lv 10 as well after the fight!"

"Nice!" I told her with a high five,"So, to the inn then?"

"Sure."

NEXT DAY

"Ahh... morning Em."

"Finally up? I've been ready to go for thirty minutes!" she replied

"Seriously?" I said with a yawn,"You know that you could've just shaken me to get me up right?"

"Really?" she said, wide eyed,"I thought that the alarm in your head was the only thing that could shake you from sleep-mode."

"Not really, loud noises do the trick too. Anyway, I should get ready... But first, dungeon or fields?" I asked

"Dungeon, because I am really close to leveling up to lv. 11 now, and I want to get up to the front lines as fast as I can."

"Ok," I said while equipping my new purple gear,"I'm ready, let's get going then."

DUNGEON: Floor 3

"HUAAH!" I let loose a yell as I finished off another demon,"Ok over there, Em?"

"I'm good, my HP is recovered." she replied,"Almost there, I think one more would do for the day, and then we will be able to fight near the top guild 'Knights of the blood oath' at the front lines... <sigh> Won't that just be the coolest thing?"

"Yeah, then we will really be fighting for what counts..." I said,"Hey, there is another one coming, you ready Em?"

"All good!"

"I'll start, then you will switch in, K?"

"Yeah, yeah, alright Clara."

I let another yell go and then charged the demon with all I had, then activated Sonic Dash sword skill and sped up for a surprise attack. When I had it's HP down to half, I shouted: "SWITCH Em!", where she went in to demolish the opponent while it was in a daze. Shortly after, the demon died just as the others did before it.

"ALRIGHT!!" shouted Emily,"Level 10, front lines here we come!"

"Nice job! I am at lv. 13 so it should be ok for me, so shall we return for the evening. I mean we have been here all day..."

"Ok." she said,"Teleport, Belenta!"

"Teleport, Belenta!" I repeated, and we were off.
