"Why were you out so late?"
The closeness of his body and fierce tone sent a shiver down your spine. You closed your eyes and tried to calm your beating heart.
"I asked you a question," he growled in your ear, not helping your frightened state.
"I'm s-sorry, Dark. I lost t-track of time."
He let out a deep growl. "What's my name?"
"D-Daddy, I'm sorry," you replied.
"Good girl, " he mumbled before continuing his interrogation. "What did you two do?" He loosened his pressure on your body.
"W-We just drank milkshakes and talked."
"Was he good to you?"
"What kind of question is that?" You mentally questioned. Dark tightened his grip on your wrists, quickly reminding you that he could read your mind.
"Y-yes."
"Good," he muttered as he released you from against the wall. You let out a sigh as you proceeded to get changed.
"I see that he drove you home," Dark said from behind you. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, not ready to deal with his rage.
"Yes, he did. He offered and it was really dark outside."
"Okay, Princess, " he said, his assertive and questioning tone starting to fade. "He didn't try anything, did he?"
"No, Daddy. It was a great evening, okay? I'm going to get changed for bed now," you said as you continued your walk to your room. After pushing past the door and grabbing a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt, you shut the bathroom door behind you and did your nightly routine.
When you opened the door, you saw Dark curled up on the bed, already asleep. You cracked a smile as you slid into bed next to him and quickly clicked the light off. You felt his strong, protective arms wrap around you as you drifted off to sleep.----------
You found yourself in that same damned memory. The night, the theater, the pain all came rushing back to you. You walked down the street sidewalk outside of the theater until you saw a familiar face.
"Oh no," you whispered as you approached Mark.
"Hey, (Y/N)! Did you enjoy the movie?" Mark said as he fell in step beside you.
"Mhm," you muttered, still a little confused as to what was happening.
"What's wrong? You aren't normally this mellow," he said as he ruffled your hair, making you giggle and fix it.
"Tell me how."
Mark furrowed his eyebrows. "How what?" He chuckled.
You grabbed his hand and held a firm grip to show your seriousness. "Last time you told me to help you. Now tell me how."
Mark stopped walking and so did you. He let out a long sigh. "I don't know. I honestly don't. I just know that I can't do it on my own. I need your help, (Y/N)."
"Tell me what to do, anything, and I'll do it."
"Resist him in every form possible. Don't let him near you or in your life. He is trying to gain control over your mind. Just be strong."
You nodded and found yourself wrapping your arms around Mark. He pulled you close and you felt secure in his arms. "I'm scared," you mumbled into his chest.
"I know," he started, rubbing your back. "I know he's terrifying, but you just have to be strong and stay true to yourself. Don't believe what he says. He's only manipulating you."
"How are you doing this, like how are you in my dream?"
He sighed as he held you. "I think the only way I'm able to talk to you in your dreams is because of the control Dark has over your mind."
"But if I resist him and his control over me starts to decrease, I won't be able to talk to you, right? "
"I'm afraid so," his voice trailed off. "There might still be a way I can reach you since the two of you share a connection because you slept with him."
You swallowed hard. "Oh no, this is all my fault. I let him get close to me, and now he has power over me. I'm the reason he's here and not you."
Mark pulled away and tilted your chin up so that the two of you locked eyes. "Don't you say that. It is my fault he is even here in the first place. I'm the reason he's 'out' now. Don't blame yourself. Just try to make him not like you. I think that's the only way to get rid of him." Mark began to dissolve away. You screeched and tried to hold on to him. "Hopefully we'll talk soon. Be strong, dear." He disappeared and you found yourself feeling confused, lonely, and guilty.
A shadowy figure approached you and wrapped itself around you. "What were you doing out here all alone?" Dark's voice rang in your ears.
"Nothing, I'm alright," you replied.
"C'mon let's go, darling. I'll protect you now," he said as he led you away from the theater.
----------
Your eyes fluttered open to see the darkness in your room. You blinked a few times, trying to distinguish reality. Your dream replayed in your mind and you thought it over. A kind of peace washed over you as you thought about how you knew how you could help save Mark. You silently and cautiously slipped out of Dark's arms and out of bed. Slipping into the kitchen, you brewed a pot of coffee as your mind raced between questions and ideas. You made sense of your dream in your head and kept repeating Mark's words to help save them in your mind.
Pouring yourself a cup of coffee, you thought about your night with Tyler. You took a seat at the dining room table and sipped your steaming drink. Why was Tyler late? Why did he have that bruise on his temple? An answer stirred in the back of your mind begging to gain your attention, but you did not accept it.
"Maybe he actually ran into a pole like he said," you thought. "The bruise was in a logical spot for it. But why was it so large and dark? Poles don't cause that much damage," you eagerly chugged your hot drink as you thought, quickly getting up and pouring another cup before sitting back down.
Another question begged your thoughts. Why had it been so long since you had a dream like the one you just experienced? You couldn't help but make a connection between the dream and your time with Tyler. How and why were they connected? You took a large gulp of your coffee and thought hard. Maybe it was just a coincidence? "There's no way that was a coincidence," you reasoned in your mind. The thought from earlier resurfaced itself and you gasped as your mind clicked the instances together.
The bruised temple. Mark's hurting and encouraging you to resist. Dark attending to "business" right before you left. The way Tyler acted like he wanted to say so much more.
"Oh my god," you whispered as the pieces fell together. Dark hurt Tyler before he met up with you. Dark knows about Mark's connection, hence him hurting Mark. But why did you have the dream? Suddenly, it clicked. Tyler and Mark must have known each other. Tyler must know about who Dark really is. Dark must've hurt him to keep him silent from you. Mark had to somehow tell Tyler about Dark and yourself. So, Tyler sought you out to try to protect you.Mark knows that you're the key to saving not only him, but yourself. Both Tyler and Mark are trying to help and save you.
You smirked as you finished your coffee. Standing up from your seat, you felt determined on what you must do next and how you were going to do it.
