A few minutes passed before Dark returned to the two of you, wearing his traditional attire of a three piece suit and tie.
"Aw, look at how miserable the two of you look. It's adorable," Dark said mockingly.
"D-Dark," you croaked out. "Please stop. Help us."
Dark chuckled. "I am sure as hell not going to help him," he said as he crossed his arms over his chest and shot a nasty glare at Tyler.
"Then j-just help me."
Dark's eyes connected with yours and you watched his eyes soften at the sight of you. He let out a long sigh before reaching a hand out to you. You looked at it for a few moments, afraid of what the gesture implied.
"C'mon, Princess, just take my hand. I just want to help clean you up."
You slowly placed your hand in his. Dark lifted you up as you yelped from pain. Dark's grip on you was gentle as he picked you up and carried you out of the room and away from Tyler.
He led you into the bathroom and gently set you down onto your feet. You bit your lip as pain exploded throughout your body. Easing yourself down to the floor, you watched Dark sift through the cabinet above the sink for medical supplies. You heard him grumbling to himself as he apparently wasn't finding what he was looking for. Eventually, he turned around and crouched down to be level with you. He gave you a quick once-over to assess your injuries before pouring alcohol on a cloth and beginning to clean the blood off your body. He was extremely gentle the entire time and waited for your permission before lifting your shirt up to clean and assess your injuries there. You smiled to yourself as you stared at his concentrated and concerned face. You almost forgot your mission. Almost.
"There, that should clean up all of the blood. I'll heal you with my powers now. You'll have to sleep afterwards for the process to fully work," Dark said as he looked up and locked eyes with you.
You nodded and watched as he carefully and gently wrapped his arms around your waist. Squirming slightly at the discomfort from his touch on your sensitive skin, you watched as Dark closed his eyes and focused on healing you. Once he was finished, he moved on to your next injury and continued the process until he healed all of your body. But, there was one injury that he would never be able to fix: your heart.
You thanked him as he scooped you up from the floor and carried you out of the bathroom and into the bedroom. You recognized this room and smiled as he placed you on the bed.
"Once you wake up, you should be healed."
"Okay, but, can you promise me something?"
Dark directed his full attention to you as if every fiber in his being was tuned into you. "What is it?"
"Don't hurt Tyler while I'm asleep."
Dark's eyes hardened, but then softened. "Your wish is my command. In fact, I may sleep while you're alseep because using my healing powers makes me feel exhausted, " he offered with a smile.
"Okay, I trust you. Thank you."
"Sleep, Princess."
----------
You stood on a sidewalk, slightly bewildered from the sudden change in setting. Looking around, you groaned and let out a long sigh as you recognized the place. It was that damned theater, seemingly cursed by your memory. You waited a few moments for someone to walk up to you, but when that didn't happen, you decided to walk down the sidewalk and away from the theater.
The wind whipped around you and filtered through your hair. You let out a long sigh as you looked around, not recognizing any of your surroundings because your memory always took place at the theater and the alleyway. Admiring the bright neon signs you passed, you were utterly oblivious to the man standing before you. You slammed into his chest and fell to the ground. Hearing a chuckle, you looked up and smiled at the man towering over you.
"Watch where you're going," he sarcastically said as he offered his hand to you and lifted you up from the ground. You instantly wrapped your arms around his neck and breathed in his scent, thankful to see him.
"Mark, I missed you," you whispered in his ear.
"I missed you too," he replied before you both pulled away.
"So I'm assuming there's a reason you're here."
"Unfortunately, yes."
"So are you going to tell me?"
"Oh yes, sorry," Mark replied. "First I just wanted to say how awful and horrible it was to watch Dark beat into you. I tried so hard to will him to stop-I really did-but nothing worked," he said with a sullen look.
"Mark, it's fine," you said as you reached towards him and lifted his head.
"It really isn't. I should have never let him out," he mumbled the last part to himself. "Anyways, I need you to do something."
"Okay."
"You need to convince Dark to let you take Tyler back to his house. Tyler is my only 'link' to you in the real world and I fear for his safety while he's at the house with Dark. We've already seen and heard his distaste for Tyler and what he's willing to do to him."
"Dark will never let me leave, especially with Tyler."
Mark sighed. "I know, that's why I need you to convince him. Persuade him, (Y/N)."
"Doesn't that mean I have to get close to him again?"
"Yes."
"But you said-"
"I know what I said! I know what I told you, but this is the only way to ensure everyone's safety. Please, (Y/N), just trust me."
"It's hard to trust you when I don't even know the whole story of what the hell is actually going on."
"I know, and I'm sorry," Mark said, placing his hands on your shoulders. "But if we are going to get rid of Dark, we have to keep Tyler safe. I know you don't understand why, and I have no time to explain it, but you'll find out soon enough. I just need you to be strong and brave."
Thunder roared and caused you to jump. "Hug me," you demanded as you stepped into Mark's embrace. You knew that the storm meant Dark would show up soon and rip Mark away from you. You squeezed Mark tightly as if your life depended on it. "Don't leave me," you pleaded with tears in your eyes.
"I'm not, darling. I'm right here," he cooed as he ran his fingers through your hair. "I'm almost back. We just have to keep fighting, okay?"
You nodded before Mark was ripped away from you. You didn't cry or scream because you had become somewhat desensitized to it all. Dark threw Mark against a building as you turned and ran away.
"(Y/N)!" A voice from behind you called out, but you ignored it and continued to run until the scenery around you began to turn very bright.
----------
You opened your eyes and sighed, remembering your dream. Internally, you felt determined to complete your "mission" and do what Mark had asked, but you felt powerless. Your body seemed to feel weak, most likely from the fact that you had injuries all over. You decided to get up and see if Dark's powers had healed your wounds all the way. Standing up, you only felt a little discomfort and smiled to yourself. You walked out of the bedroom and began a search for Dark. You were going to help Mark defeat him, and you were going to save Tyler. Nothing could stop you.
