"If Mark knew about Dark watching me, then why didn't he try to stop him?"

"I-I don't know."

"That's what I thought," you replied, your words bitter.

"Listen, I know that Mark is a good guy and would never hurt anyone. He just wants to help people."

"Why didn't he want to help me?"

"I don't know, (Y/N). I just don't know. That's something only Mark would be able to tell us, and he isn't here right now. We just need to focus on getting him back and our ques-"

"Shut up! Don't give me that crap," you interrupted as your rage built up inside you. "If he actually gave a shit about anyone, he would've done something. I wouldn't be here right now! I could be safe and doing my normal life. But, no, I'm not. I've been through hell and back because of that man."

"(Y/N), the anger you feel is towards Dark, not Mark. Mark didn't do anything to you."

"It's not about what he did. It's about what he could've prevented. I'm going to leave; if I stay any longer Dark will be suspicious. Thanks for the food."

"(Y/N), please don't leave ye-"

"Goodbye, Tyler. I'm sure we'll talk soon."

----------

After walking a few blocks away from Tyler's house, you realized you didn't know where you were. You took a seat on the curb and decided to try to reach Dark. You shut your eyes and focused on trying to reach him.

Dark, please come get me.

Waiting a few minutes for a response, you sighed when you heard nothing. "Our connection must be weak because I'm pushing him away," you thought as you felt helpless. Suddenly, a car pulled up to where you were seated and instantly gained your attention. You stood up as the window rolled down.

"Get in."

"Hello to you, too."

----------

The car ride all the way back to the house was silent. You leaned your head against the car window and watched the trees and buildings fly by.

"So," Dark finally spoke up. "Did you get rid of him?"

Your heart began to pound slightly before you calmed yourself down and tried to play it cool. "Yes, he won't be an issue anymore."

"That's my girl," he said as he placed a hand on your knee as the car pulled into the driveway. You unbuckled your seat belt and gripped the door handle, ready to get out. Dark tightened his grip on your leg which pulled your attention away from the door and to him.

"Is there anything you'd like to tell me?"

Your heart slammed into your chest with each beat and your hands began to sweat. You can't tell him the truth; it'll only get you killed.

"I don't think so," you said with a smile as you opened the door and hopped out. You quickly hustled into the house and away from Dark. Your heart began to calm down the further you went as the pressure faded. Deciding to head to the kitchen, you turned around and let out a yelp at the sudden presence of Dark in front of you.

"Jesus, you scared me," you stated as you placed a hand on your pounding heart.

"I'm sorry, dear. I just wanted to ask if you would like me to prepare a meal for you?"

Your full stomach made you feel guilty as you nervously swallowed. "Um, no, thank you. I'm not hungry."

"Not hungry?" Dark replied menacingly. "That's nonsense, Princess. Come, I'll cook us something." He held his hand out for you to take. You felt as if you had no choice but to take it, so you did. He smiled and held a somewhat tight grip on your smaller hand as he led you into the dining room and to the table.
"I'll be back shortly," he said before heading to the kitchen.

You played with your thumbs for a bit before growing bored and deciding to look around the room. For once, you noticed the simple, yet defined details of everything that made up the dining room. The deep red mahogany table was accented perfectly by the black cushioned chairs that surrounded it. The glass windows that were placed in the wall adjacent to the dining table allowed natural light inside that made everything in the room seem to glow. You took in your surroundings with awe as you admired the details that you never cared to see before. Dark entered the room with two plates in his hands. He placed one before you and another before the seat across the table. He then brought out two glasses and gave you one before sitting down. You looked down at the plate and saw that the meal was baked chicken with a side of pasta salad. You swallowed nervously as Dark began to cut his chicken and take bites, all the while watching you to see what you would do. No matter how long you stared at the fork and knife or the food, you couldn't will yourself to pick up the utensils and begin to eat.

"Aren't you going to eat?" Dark spoke up.

"No, I'm not hungry."

"Princess, you must be hungry. You haven't eaten in quite a while."

You kept your eyes on the food, not daring to look up and meet the eyes of the intimidating man before you.

"It's almost as if you have already eaten."

"I-I haven't."

"Is there something you aren't telling me?"

"N-No," you replied weakly.

Dark calmly placed his utensils down and cleared his throat. "YOU REALLY THOUGHT I WOULDN'T KNOW?!" He suddenly yelled out, causing you to jump in your seat. "Did you really think I wouldn't find out?! Do you think I'm stupid?! I knew exactly what you were going to do. I could sense your insincerity when you told me you were going to kill him. I could smell the fear and anxiety when I picked you up. YOU HAVE NO RESPECT FOR ME!" Dark snarled as he flipped the dining table. His breathing came out in heavy pants as his dark, soulless eyes were locked onto you. You dared to lift your gaze, and when you did you saw the same frightening and uncontrollable beast that tortured you. Shaking with fear, you tore your gaze away from him and tried to get yourself to move. Your body was frozen with fear. After Dark calmed down and his breathing went back to normal, he casually smoothed down his suit and rested his hands behind his back. He let out a long sigh before speaking.

"I apologize for my outburst of rage. I can see that it frightened you. Please forgive my actions, but you must be punished, dear."
