"I think you're the only person that truly understands me, and I'm the only one that understands you."
As he stood there, leaned across the large desk, hand caressing your cheek, eyes drinking in every detail of your face, you couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of security, worth, and inclination towards him. Seemingly instinctively, you leaned into him and embraced him with a kiss. His soft, sweet, pink lips kissed you back until he eventually pulled away. You opened your eyes to be met with his as his previous words seemed to make so much more sense now.
"I trust you."
He seemed surprised by your words and replied with a smile. "Good, darling. I really appreciate that."
You suddenly remembered Tyler was in the room and your cheeks instantly heated up with blush from embarrassment. Self-consciously, you darted your eyes down and let out a little giggle. Dark's smile widened as his heart was filled with joy at seeing you happy.
"What is it, doll?"
You giggled some more. "I just remembered he's still here," you whispered as you pointed in the direction of Tyler. Dark let out a roar of laughter as you laughed along with him and rested your head on his chest.
"You can leave, Tyler," he said with a chuckle. Tyler abruptly nodded and exited the room. Dark moved from the other side of the desk to where you were now standing.
"Hi," he whispered as he held his hand up.
"Hi," you responded as you interlaced your fingers with his.
"I've missed this."
"Me too," you instinctively answered, your old feelings for him that you had pushed down now resurfacing.
"I don't like it when we fight. I also dislike when we grow apart."
"Me too," you repeated, except this time it felt like you truly meant it. For the first time, it felt like these words were your own, and not something (or someone) controlling what you say. You nuzzled your head into his chest and took a deep breath, relishing in the comfort his scent gifted you. Dark wrapped his strong arms around you and held you as if he feared he was going to lose you.
"(Y/N), I feel like you are my kryptonite. You seem to be the only person that can truly break me down. You make me feel human, something I thought I'd never feel. You brighten up my life so much that I fear my darkness will only bring you down. I'm terrified that I might hurt you, like I have already done."
"Dark..." You croaked out as his words seemed to flow from deep within his heart.
"I cannot handle the possibility of harming you again, so I think I have to send you away. It pains me immensely to do this, but I have to. You can't be around me, I will only bring you harm."
"Dark, no. I'm not leaving you. I feel safe with you. You make me feel sheltered and protected, something I thought I'd never feel. I'm not letting you push me away."
Dark let out a long sigh. "You can't stay here, (Y/N). I am too dangerous of a monster to be around. You have to go. You have your own life to live."
"Dark," you whispered as tears began to fill your eyes. You hadn't realized just how attached you were to him.
"You must go back. You cannot stay here."
"No."
"Darling, you are leaving. It's for your own good."
"No!" You replied as the tears spilled out of your eyes and trickled down your cheeks.
"You said I make you feel safe. Now, all I'm doing is protecting you. Go."
"No, Dark!"
"Leave now!" He commanded in a thunderous voice, causing you to jump with fear. You didn't move, so he picked you up and began to walk out with you. You slammed your fists into his chest over and over as the tears came harder and harder. Dark didn't say anything, in fact, he didn't even look at you as he carried you outside and placed you in Tyler's car as Tyler scurried to the driver's seat.
"Take her home, Tyler. You know the place."
"NO!" You screamed as you tried to kick Dark and swing your fists at Tyler. Dark calmly squatted down and grabbed your hands firmly, yet gently. You paused your fit momentarily to look into his eyes one last time. He leaned in close to your head so that he could whisper in your ear.
"Don't forget that I love you, Princess. Sleep."
----------
Waking up in a familiar bed is something that is typically taken for granted, but you cursed the bed that you had known for years for it meant you were not with Dark. You grew so upset that you ripped the blanket off of you violently and threw it across the room with a shriek.
The momentary anger fit faded as tears flooded down your face and you slammed your head into your pillow. Your mind raced with memories of Dark. You saw yourself pressed against his form as the two of you danced gracefully in the moonlight. You smelled the delicious scent of food wafting through the air as you woke up. You remembered his touch and how it sent sparks through you. All of these memories were happy and nice, yet all they did was torment you.
"I have to get back to him," you thought, trying to block out the images in your head. "I need him in my life. Maybe he misses me too? What if I think hard enough and our strange connection sends my message to him? It's worth a shot," you mentally debated.
"Dark, I need you. I want you in my life. I can't be happy without you." You concentrated on each word of your message, each syllable. You imagined Dark in your mind and imagined him receiving the message. Almost instantly, you heard something.
"Stop."
The abrupt answer caught you off guard and shocked you. Anger threatened to make an appearance, but you pushed it aside and tried again.
"Dark, please. I can't go on without you. I want to be with you. I need to be near you."
A few moments passed before you heard something again.
"Stop. All I will do is hurt or break you."
A smirk played on your lips as you thought of him.
"Then hurt me."
You shocked yourself with your words, yet each one was sincere.
"You really wish for that?" Dark replied.
"If it means I get to be with you, then destroy me. Break me."
Dark's deep chuckle filled your thoughts and made you giggle a bit.
"Be careful what you wish for, darling."
