The barrack vehicle pulled into the dirt path of Norridge. The big vehicle barely fit between the broken gate of Norridge. Sam opened up the back window. "Aaron, you and Blaise will fix the door in case they come back early. Tinley and I will patch up Dex. Just reattach the bolts. Blaise said he is a good welder and builder. He'll be able to prove it here." Sam said.Blaise slid out of the driver's seat and Aaron hopped out of the back. The both watched the barrack vehicle drive further into Norridge towards the medical building. Blaise looked at the gate door. "Sheet metal?" he asked. Aaron nodded. "Light-weight. I don't know how this held up for so long against the roamers." Blaise bent over and pulled the gate door upward. Aaron went on the other side and lifted it up. The both pushed it upward and against the walls of Norridge.
Aaron scanned around and located the screws that were holding the gate door in place. He pointed to them. "Get those. The screw driver is in the shed over there." Blaise walked over to the shed and opened the door. He was met with a tool box sitting on top of a pile of C4 powder. He gasped and backed up. "Damn." he said. He picked up the toolbox and leaned out of the shed. "You know there is an entire stack of C4 powder in here?" he yelled. Aaron scratched his head and then he put the pieces together.
"That's probably where Wally got the explosives... we can't let them find that. Bring me the toolbox." Aaron yelled. Blaise jogged over to the door and he handed Aaron the screwdriver.
The screwdriver slid into the screws perfectly. He twisted it on and wiped the sweat off his forehead. "So, uh, how'd you end up there?" Aaron asked putting in a second screw. Blaise took off his jacket and set it on the ground. He was wearing a white shirt. "How much time you got?" he asked. "As much time as it takes to out these screws in." Aaron laughed. "Alright, so about three hours?" Blaise laughed. Aaron chuckled and continued screwing.
"My family and I had left our house because of the roamers. We wandered for a few weeks until a group of soldiers drove by in a similar barrack vehicle. We thought it was the United States military. We got in and they took us to Wally's evil place. My wife and son tried to escape with us and we got caught down the road. Wally," Blaise started getting choked up. "Wally took my wife and son on the stage and executed them. He drove the machete through my wife's heart and bludgeoned my son's head with his baton. He said it would teach me a lesson. Now all I want to do is kill him, but it won't be that simple." Blaise said.
Aaron screwed in the last screw and looked at Blaise. "Damn, man. How old was your son?" he asked. Blaise crossed his arms. "Eight." he murmured. "Holy sh*t." Aaron yelled. Blaise looked at the screws. "Good job. Let's, uh," he said wiping the tear from his eye. "see if it works."
Aaron and Blaise both pulled open and closed the door. It closed with a heavy creak and it locked perfectly. Blaise took rope out of the shed and tied it around the gate handle. He tied the other end to the wall and double locked the gate.
"At most a vehicle will dent the gate but it will not break this time." Blaise said with his hands on his sides. Aaron crossed his arms. "Nice." he laughed.
"Dex! Hold still!" Sam yelled. Dex squirmed at the needle and the medicine she had in her hands. "It's numbing medicine! I need to give you a shot so stop infection from spreading! He hit you with metal barbs!" "I don't like needles!" Dex screeched. Tinley held him down. "So you can handle being whipped by Wally and me-" she stopped in her tracks and continued. "Yet you can't handle a needle!" "Don't sass me, baby!" Dex screamed. Sam plugged the needle into his back and injected the medicine. Dex squealed and put his head down. "That wasn't that bad." Dex said. Tinley slapped him on the neck. "Wussy." she said.
Dex looked to his side at Tinley. He blushed and smiled at her. "You're gorgeous." he said with a cracking voice. "Shut up, hoe. I'm not." Tinley crossed her arms and sat in a chair. "No, really. Not just looks but if you had nuts they'd be bigger than mine!" Dex yelled. Tinley smirked and looked at him. "No, they wouldn't." she giggled. Sam coughed. "Okay, that's enough of you guys today." she said walking to the other side of the room to gather the medicine in a bag.
"Seriously, Tin. You were brave by tricking those armed soldiers that you'd do them if they helped you out. You could've got shot." he said. Tinley leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek. "If it got you here safely then I'd do it," her face got white. "I mean, pfft. I'd do it for Sam and Aaron. Yeah, not just you." she said nervously.
"Don't try hiding the fact you like me," Dex said. "You were the one crying when I was whipped by Wally." Tinley sighed. "You were hurt. What was I supposed to do? Let you die?" she asked. "Stop the act, Tinley. You kissed me when Wally got onto us." "I was trying to make him jealous." Tinley said. "So you don't love me?" Dex asked. "F*ck yeah, I do." she said leaning in.
Sam heard the sound of making out behind her. She turned around to it seemed like the two were morphing into each other. She sighed and continued packing medication into the bags. "Wrap it before you tap it, Dex." she said casually.
From no where, a sound of a extremely deep truck horn blared over the walls. It was so loud it rattled the medical building. Sam jerked around and Tinley and Dex were sitting up straight. Sam picked up her gun off the counter and she sprinted outside.
Aaron and Blaise were facing the wall. Their backs were to Sam. They weren't anywhere near the barrack's vehicle. The horn went dead silent and nothing happened for a few seconds. Aaron spun around and looked at Sam. "What as that!?" Sam yelled. Aaron cupped his hands. "They're already here!" he yelled. Sam turned around and Tinley was helping Dex out of the medical building. Sam turned back around to await further noises.
Before she could say anything to Dex and Tinley, a megaphone on the other side of the wall wailed and a voice came through. "This is Wally you douche bags!" he yelled. "I treated all of you nicely. Except Dex. I hate him. But I thought we all bonded! Even you Blaise! You are a f*cking piece of garbage! I'm killing you next!" he yelled.
"Come get us!" Dex hollered. The air was silent. Wally spoke up again. "Listen you scumbags."
"I'll give you until nightfall to come out empty handed. If you do that we'll let you guys come back and we won't punish you as hard. Right now we're just gonna cut off your left hands! That's all we're gonna do. So are you coming out or not!?" Wally spoke over the megaphone.
"Go f*ck yourself!" Aaron yelled. "We're staying here! You can't get to us!" Sam yelled. "You're not wrong! None of my vehicles really have the horse power to do that. We have an idea though."
"We're giving you guys one last chance to come out, or we will initiate the plan!" Wally screamed angrily. "Do it! No balls!" Dex yelled.
Silence.
"Okay! You guys earned it!" Wally yelled.
Silence again.
Until from the silence came a loud burst of noise. Music was playing from some kind of boom box. It was extremely loud, even from over the wall. The five looked towards the sound until a boom box flew over the wall. It fell on the ground and tumbled toward the chicken coop. Aaron scoffed. "This is your plan!? Drive us out with music?"
"No. That's not it." Wally yelled.
Aaron walked over to the boom box and the sound was switched all the way up. He put his fingers on the knob to turn it down but it was stuck. It was nailed steady and the sound couldn't be turned down. "It won't turn off!" Aaron yelled punching the boom box. "You're trying to annoy us!?" Blaise asked.
"Wrong again, douche bags." Wally yelled.
Four red flares suddenly popped into the sky above them. Even in the day, those red flares shined brightly and made a deafening pop. After the popping sounds, gunshots could be heard over the wall. It sounded like twenty people were firing all at once. The shooting stopped and they could hear car engines on.
The truck horn restarted and the earth shaking rumbling sound vibrated the ground. Other car horns could be heard making a loud ruckus. It lasted for around three minutes until it all just stopped. The people of Norridge heard the cars drive away and the air was silent again.
Until the roamers made noises on the other side.
