   ~ colby's pov ~

2:37 p.m.

I woke up to the sound of beeping, almost as though I was transported back in time to that horrid day. My eyes slowly opened, taking in my surroundings. I was in a hospital bed, surrounded by familiar faces.

"Colby!" Sam rushed to my side.

"Bro, are you okay?" It was Jake.

Sam, Jake, Corey, Devyn, and Aaron were here. They were all here. Except Brennen.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine . . ." I said sitting up.

"You sure? That was a nasty fall . . ." Sam said, sitting next to the bed.

"What happened?" I asked, my voice raspy.

"Well, we pranked Jake, and when he woke up, you just collapsed. You hit your head on his desk." Sam said, glancing at Jake.

"Oh. Well, I feel fine now." I said, trying to get out of bed.

"Wait, I think you should stay here for a little longer . . ." Sam reacted, guiding me back to the bed.

I felt a sharp pain in my head,  putting it in my hands. "Yeah, that might not be a bad idea." I said flinching, sitting back down.

"I'll go get a nurse." Corey said, walking out of the room.

"Wait, bro. Your eyes," Sam said, staring at me. "They're green . . ."

2:56 p.m.

Morgan and I walked up to the house, saying goodbye to Brennen. My mouth dropped open in awe. This place was huge!

"You ready?" Morgan asked me, smiling.

"I guess so . . ." I said, grinning back at her.

I gathered all my bags, only containing my clothes. The moving van, which was still on its way, held all of our décor and furniture. Morgan walked up to the door, opening it. I gazed inside, looking at the hard-wood floor, the glossy stair-cases, the full glass-pane windows . . . I decided to go upstairs first. It wasn't a mansion, but it was beautiful. There were four bedrooms, big enough for my whole family, but I didn't want them coming here, considering our mystery neighbors.

I figured we could use the extra bedrooms as storage rooms, or offices of some sort. Morgan wasn't going to have much in her room, since we came here for her college.

The bedrooms were identical. Two large pane windows, and glossy, oak floors. I claimed the first one on the left, since the others wouldn't have as much natural light coming in. But the only downside to that room, it was straight across from one of the neighbors windows.

Whatever . . . I thought, setting my bags down.

I looked out the window, gazing into their backyard. They had a some-what large pool, a grill, dead grass, a leather couch, and a huge shark diving platform, saying, "SEND IT!" on it. I heard Morgan downstairs, exploring. I decided to go down also. I slid down the banister, something ive wanted to do forever. What was I going to do while Morgan was gone? I already had a job, working for my parents, even though they said they would send us money anyway. Then it hit me. A dog.

"A DOG!" I shouted. "I WANT A DOG!"

"A dog? How are we going to afford that?" Morgan asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I can get another job! I could work at a coffee shop or something! Please?" I pleaded.

"Well, I mean, its not a bad idea. What are you going to do when I'm gone?" She smiled.

"Please." I begged.

"We have to ask Mom and Dad first, but it could work out." She said, grabbing her phone. "I'll see what I can do." She walked into the living room, already containing carpets.

I screamed inside.

I ran back up-stairs, into my bedroom. I opened one of my various bags, pulling out my MacBook.

I tapped on "Google," and searched, "L.A. Dog Adoption." There was an adoption center not far from our house. I ran back downstairs.

"Morgan! There's an adoption place not far from here." I said, pointing to the screen.

"Hey, good. So, Mom and Dad said that it wouldn't be a bad idea, unless you can take care of it. That would mean cleaning up after it, taking it on walks, feeding it, you know the drill. Since I won't be here, it's all on you." Morgan said, turning off her phone.

"Yes, I know. I'm nineteen, I think I can handle a dog." I said, smiling.

"We're gonna have to wait to get him. Just until the furniture comes. That'll probably be tomorrow though." Morgan said, looking at me.

I nodded my head and gazed around the kitchen. Beautiful white cabinets with dark wodden floors. This was my dream home.
