~ colby's pov ~
7:06 p.m.
I walked into the house with the dogs, smiling. I un-clipped their leashes, letting them run about the house.
"Bro, you look happy. What happened out there?" Corey said, playfully bumping into me.
"I met that girl we saw earlier today, the new neighbor." I replied, grinning.
"What's her name?" He asked.
"Alyssa." I stopped smiling for a second, the light draining from my face.
"Wait, isn't that your mom's name?" He asked.
"It . . . was." I said, looking at my feet.
(colby had not told any of his roommates, not even sam, about what had actually happened to his parents. they believed it was an accident, just like everyone else.)
"Oh. Well, did you get her number?" He asked.
"Actually, I gave her my number." I said. "I'm guessing she doesn't have a boyfriend, because she said that her and her sister came here from New York, for the sister's college."
"Oh hey, that means you have a chance." He said, patting me on the back, guiding me to the living room. "Everyone's watching a movie."
I followed him. "Which movie?"
"Chappie." He said.
He reached for the light switch, turned it on, and paused the movie.
"So, Colby here has some information about the neighbors." He said, chuckling.
"Um . . . well, I ran into that girl we saw earlier today, and we talked for a second. Her name is A-Alyssa, and her and her sister moved here from New York for her college." I said, everyone staring.
"That's quite the trip." Devyn said. "Do you know how old she is, or?"
"She looked around our age." I said, remembering her face.
"Does she have a boyfriend?" Jake asked jokingly.
"Well I don't know, I didn't ask her, Jake." I reached over for the light switch, and shut them off. "Can we just watch the movie?"
I sat down on the leather couch, by Jake.
He elbowed me, smiling. "Hey, did you get her number?"
"I gave her mine, okay? Why does everyone want to know that?" I said, getting up. "I'm just gonna go change."
I walked up the stairs, into my room. I glanced out the window, to Alyssa's. Her curtains were shut, a lamp light glowed inside. I turned and sat on my bed, looking at my Twitter. I saw Sam posted a tweet.
@samgolbach: hey guys, challenge video is going to be filmed tomorrow!
I had forgotten about that. Apparently, Sam and I are big shot YouTubers, and so are the rest of the roommates. We upload every Sunday, which meant tomorrow, Friday, we had to film.
I shut off my phone and grabbed some comfortable clothes from my closet. I quickly changed, and walked back downstairs.
Everyone was still in the living room, their eyes fixed on the TV. I walked into the kitchen, grabbing some Cheerios from the cupboard. I poured some into a bowl, along with some milk. I grabbed a spoon and sat back down on the couch.
"Hey, I was gonna ask, you feeling okay? You know after what happened . . ." Jake whispered to me.
"Yeah, I mean, I still have bad dreams here and there, but, I'm okay." I said, eating my cereal.
