~ colby's pov ~

8:32 p.m.

I gasped, staring at Alyssa. She looked . . . perfect.

From her hair, to her face, to her clothes. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen.

I couldn't bear to look at her anymore, putting my head back into my knees.

"A-Are you okay?" She asked.

I could hear her slowly walk over to me.

"I-I . . . " I mumbled, struggling to talk, overcome with tears.

She sat next to me, and rubbed my back.

"It's okay. You can tell me." She said, sympathetically.

"I-You wouldn't understand." I told her, not looking up.

"So? I always feel better when I talk about it. I won't judge you, I promise." She said, speaking softly.

I slowly lifted up my head, looking at her.

I must look terrible.

She looked at me with understanding eyes, ready for anything.

"It's okay . . ." She whispered, giving me a faint smile.

I sniffled, my breaths uneven. I was about to reveal my deepest, darkest secret, to a girl I had met a few days before . . .

8:40 p.m.

"Okay, uh . . . I've never told anyone this before. Anyone." Colby said, looking down at his sock covered toes.

I didn't say anything, only giving him a small nod.

"Everyone has been told, and thinks, that my parents died when I was fifteen, from some sort of accident at their lab. They were scientists." He said, choking on his words.

I sat next to him, our arms touching.

~

He told me everything. About how his parents died. How they actually died. The fake freak accident. The ooze and gas in that lab. The bomb. Everything. And somehow, I believed him.

"B-But Something happened today. I-It hasn't happened before." He stuttered, crying even more than before.

A pile of tissues lay on the floor. I squinted, looking hard. It seemed as if his tears had a green tint to them.

"You know Elton?" He asked, looking at me with bloodshot eyes.

I nodded, feeling sorry for him.

"We didn't have the best relationship. We got into arguments all the time, almost everyday, about everything. He left . . . He left because of me." He told me, looking down again. "And today, he came back. And, I knew, something was up. H-He pushed me into the pool, and dumped cold water on my head in front of everyone. As a 'prank' of course, but with the bad temper that I have, I freaked out. All I can see is Elton, falling to the ground, blood coming from his mouth and nose, and-and . . ."

He started hyperventilating.

I didn't know what to do. All I could think to say was;

"In, out, in, out."

Slowly but surely, his breathing went back to normal. I sighed in relief, looking at him.

"Should we talk about the dreams?" I asked, quietly.

"Alyssa, I've felt a connection with some you ever since I saw you in that first dream. You've always looked familiar, and--" I cut him off.

"Colby, I felt it too. I still feel it." I said, smiling faintly at him.

"I-I'm sorry you have to see me like this."  Colby said, looking up at me with longing eyes.

"Colby I--"

He started leaning towards me, slowly. I didn't know what was happening, only letting it happen. He cautiously put his hand on my cheek, looking at my lips.

I stared at his bloodshot, green eyes. Once again, they pulsed. It seemed as if they only did that when he was scared or sad, or in this case, when he felt lust.

And suddenly, it happened. What I had been wating for.

He kissed me.

It was the best feeling in the world, as I had only been kissed once before this.

When I was younger, I was afraid of love. I was a chubby, pimple-faced girl who used too much makeup. Kids at my school bullied me, calling me a "pizza face." I wasn't only afraid of messing it up or them disapproving me, but of the commitment.

My first kiss was a fuckboy in tenth grade. He wanted to get with everyone, wanting to use them.

The boys in my class kept score of how many girls they slept with or kissed. It was pretty fucked up in my opinion.

I closed my eyes, putting my hand on his neck, the other ruffling his hair.

We sat there, for about three minutes when a laughing Jake busted through the door.

"Colby! You need to come see thi-" He stopped smiling when he saw what was happening.

Me and Colby quickly broke apart, no longer touching.

"Hey, Jake . . ." Colby said, his voice deep and raspy.

"Oh, well uh, Corey's drunk. He's screaming and it's pretty fucking funny if you ask me." Jake said, a smile coming back to his face, but that quickly faded.

He quickly walked out, leaving me and Colby alone again.

I looked over at him, already staring at me.

"Should we-" Colby said, gesturing towards the door.

"Yeah . . ." I nodded.

He stood up, I did the same. Our hands brushed, Colby interlocking fingers with me.

We walked out of his bedroom, into the hallway.

You could hear Corey yelling from downstairs, something about, a girlfriend?

Colby cautiously walked down the stairs, looking for signs of suspicion.

It seemed as if all the noise and racket was coming from outside by the pool. Everyone stood around what looked like a stool or chair, with Corey standing on top of it.

Colby and I walked through the patio's sliding glass doors, out to all the commotion, hand in hand.

Suddenly Corey yelled, seeing us;

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you tonight's couple, Colby and Alyssa!"

He pointed, everyone staring.

I heard Colby mumble something under his breath;

"Jake told them . . ."

They all seemed intoxicated, everyone woozy and screaming.

Corey made his way over to us, Colby still holding my hand.

"Hey Alyssa, that's my best friend don't you know." Corey said, wobbling. "Here I'll tell you a little secret."

He guided me over towards the pool's edge, away from the crowd and Colby.

"I'm really drunk . . ." He whispered.

I smelled whiskey on his breath, cringing.

Suddenly, Corey lost his balance, his feet coming out from under him.

He fell into the pool, bringing me along with him.
