"I'm really sorry. I know Dawn and the quads didn't mean it."

I scoff. "You're defending them AGAIN?! I can't believe you Mae.

"I am! I'm sorry."

I totally block her out and head to my room. Then I lock the door and take out my phone. Then I dial a number and it starts ringing.

"Hello?" the voice says.

"Hey Dicky. It's payback time."

Dicky's POV

"Wait, what?" I ask.

"I said it's payback time," Ella says over the phone.

"Oh. I didn't know I owed you any money. Will a quarter be enough? It's all I have."

"No! I don't mean pay back. I mean payback."

"That sounds like the same thing," I say.

I hear her sigh on the other end of the phone. "A payback is when you get revenge on someone because they did something bad to you."

"Ohh. Payback. Why didn't you say so?"

She sighs again. "Are you in?"

"Who are we trying to payback?"

"Mae," Ella says.

"Your cousin?!"

"No, Mae from state farm."

"I thought it was only Jake from state far-"

"YES MY COUSIN! She keeps defending Dawn and doesn't even care about how I feel."

"That's sad. What can I do to help?"

"Well, remember when you wanted me to act as your girlfriend to make Mae jealous?"

I nod, but then I realize she can't see me. "Yeah."

"Well...I'm up for it now if it's not too late."

"Really?!" I ask.

"Yeah. I think I think I can live with you being my fake boyfriend. You're actually pretty cute."

"Aww. Thanks Ella. Wait. You don't like like me, do you?"

"Ew, no!" she says. "Sorry not ew. I just don't like you that way."

"That's great. You're pretty too, but my heart belongs to Maya."

"Maya?" Ella asks.

"That's Mae's full name."

"Oh yeah. I almost forgot. It feels so weird calling her that though."

"Yeah. But how will this payback help you?" I ask her.

She sighs again. "It'll make Nicky jealous, and Mae so confused. And probably everyone too. AND you'll definitely catch Mae's attention."
