The Tail of Audrey and Aryella

Prologue

The brilliant moon shone brightly on the water as it washed up on the shore of Seastar Bay. Scott ran his hand through his golden hair nervously as he watched the dark water. Then she emerged, the water rippled as the beautiful mermaid he loved grew out of the water, with brown eyes, black hair, pale skin, and a beautiful tail with a rainbow of colors, changing with her different emotions. Scott gazed lovingly at his wife, his emerald green eyes watching her as she moves her arms revealing two beautiful tiny baby girls.

"They're beautiful."

Marina was silent and then she stammered, "Scott, I... I think we made a mistake."

"What do you mean?" Scott asked confused.

"You know how different our two worlds are Scott," Marina answered, "It's hard to keep this relationship going while playing our parts, me a princess, soon to be queen, and you a human. And now we've brought children into it...."

"Oh, Marina," Scott said gently touching her shoulder. Then he remembered, "Names?" He asked.

"Audrey and Aryella." she sighed heavily.

"Oh, I like those names!" he exclaimed trying to lift her spirits.

"Identical twin girls Scott, I'll take Aryella for the heir to the throne, and you'll take Audrey to forever remind you that I'll always be here," she said touching his heart, then she gave him Audrey who became a human almost instantly.

"What if they find out that there's a whole other world at their fingertips?"

"They won't Scott; we can't let them, no matter what."

"Marina, what are you doing up there?!" someone called from below the surface.

"I have to go!" Marina told Scott, sounding rushed, "I love you!"

"When will I see you again?" Scott asked.

Just then Marina leaped forward and gave him the longest, most passionate kiss you could dream of, "Scott, I'm sorry but we can't see each other again, no matter how hard we try." and with that she dove into the water before he could even say goodbye.
