I burst in through the front door in an awfully good mood after being with the guys, and knowing that I'm about to be with Simon.
I dashed up the stairs to his room, but he wasn't in there. So I ran downstairs, then down the basement stairs and into my room.
Spotting a little form under the blanket, I grinned. "Is that a wild Simon I see in the distance? Sleeping in his mates habitat?Holding down the fort while he was gone?"
Simon doesn't respond, instantly making me frown. Then I see his body shaking and finally hear the quiet, heartbreaking sobs coming from his mouth.
My heart drops and I rush over to my bed. "Simon, what's wrong baby? Are you okay?"
He turns over, and I gasp. His right eye is swollen shut, and bruising. He cried harder and threw his arms around me.
"J-Jake," he sobbed. I felt how bad he was shaking and my heart broke even more.
But I was also livid. Who the fuck would ever hurt Simon? He's the sweetest person in the world. I grit my teeth subconsciously, but try to remain calm for Simon's sake. It obvious that he's scared to death.
Taking a deep breath in through my nose, I hold him tight. "Simon what happened. Who did this to you?"
He shakes his head against my chest. "You'll be mad."
Alarm rings throughout my whole body. "No I won't," I say, but I don't know if I mean it. Mad at him? Never. Mad at who did this? I'm already fucking pissed.
"I-it was just an accident," he hiccups, clinging onto me. I rack my brain for who could've done this. Mom and Dad are the only other people who were at the house. Unless Simon left at some point and it happened then.
I pull back and kiss his forehead gently. "Simon, you need to tell me who did this to you. Right now, please."
He bowed his head, crying even harder. "I don't want to Jake. You're gonna be so mad."
I try to remain calm, but I'm panicking. Why does he think I'm going to be so angry? I'd only ever be mad if I found out he were cheating on me, and I don't think that's the case here.
"Simon," I tried to say his name in the least mad voice I could. "I won't be mad, please just tell me."
He whimpered. "Jakey, you're already mad. I can tell."
As he looked up at me, one beautiful green eye, and one eye blown up like a purple balloon, I did feel another surge of anger. I wanted to fucking kill who did this, but I didn't even have the slightest clue.
I was on the verge of breaking down. Why would someone hurt Simon? It just doesn't make any fucking sense!
Then a huge bang sounded throughout the house, and I heard my mom screaming. Simon dug his nails into my shoulders, crying harder and holding onto me for dear life.
"What the fuck," I tried to stand up, but Simon wrapped his arms in a death lock around my waist.
"Please Jake," he begged, totally hysterical, "Don't go up there!"
I pried his arms off me. "Simon, it's mom!"
"Jakob! Please!"
I bolted up the stairs, hearing Simon scream for me to come back, but I had to see if mom was okay. I heard Dad yelling and the sound of something crash to the floor.
I threw open the basement door, locking it behind me, and ran upstairs into their bedroom.
Mom was crying, throwing things at Dad who had knocked over their bookshelf. He looked livid.
