A/n Pic: Coby 👀😘
Here's another update. Expect more frequent ones since I'm feeling this story as of late. But don't take my word for that because my feelings change easily lmao. 👀😂

I REALLY don't want to edit this, but it will be by the time it's published. So, if you're reading this chapter. It's been edited. You are welcome!

"You're Simon, right?"

I couldn't help but jump nearly 5 ft off the ground as I felt a firm hand casually land on my shoulder. I spun around, meeting the amused eyes of one of the boys in film club.

Biting my lip, I nod unsurely. Am I in trouble? Why does he want to know who I am? Oh my god. Oh my god.

He smiles, revealing nice teeth and small laugh lines around his brown eyes. "I'm Coby. It's nice to meet you."

Oh? He just wants to introduce himself? No worries then! I'll just reply to a total stranger, all by myself. "Nice it's you to meet too!"

My eyes widen in horror while a chuckle escapes from Coby's lips. What is my problem! Why can't I ever just be normal like everyone else and not make a giant fool of myself when I speak!

"Are you sure your name isn't Yoda?" Coby teases, nudging me gently with his elbow. I laugh weakly. I'm so embarrassed right now.

Ugh, why can't I be charismatic like Jake?

"I'm sorry."

Coby raises a curious brow. "Why?"

"For going all Yoda on you! I'm not the best at meeting new people." I explain, without messing up this time. I can't help but smile slightly at my small victory.

"Oh, in that case allow me to apologize. See, I'm the exact opposite and I can be a little overbearing when I meet new people." He grins cheekily.

Nervously chewing my lip, I offer up a little smile. "S-so are you a junior?"

Stupid nervous stutter!

"A senior, actually. And you're a sophomore, right?"

I nod. "You seem to know a lot about me. Should I be worried?"

Coby's brown eyes scan me up and down as a small, humored smile forms on his lips.

"There's a lot of rumors going on about you. Since you're new and all. I hate rumors, so I thought I'd get to know you myself. Besides, I figured the new boy might like a friend."

"Oh." I can't help but smile widely, shocked that a boy in high school would rather get to know someone than instantly believe rumors.

Then I freeze. "Rumors?"

Coby sighs, shaking his head, never losing his little smile. "Yeah, people say things like you got expelled from your last school, and that's why you suddenly transferred in the middle of the year."

"No way!" I laugh, rolling my eyes. "I was a perfect student! In fact, they were begging me to stay."

Coby lifts his hands defensively as we plop ourselves onto the couch. "Hey! I believe you."

"Good, you better," I giggle, subtly inching away from him. I'm a happily taken boy, so I don't want to give Coby the wrong signals. Which, so far, this two-seater couch is a bad start. Especially since we're about to watch a movie.

Coby bites his lip, looking me over again.

Ugh. I hate when boys look at me like that. When their eyes start at yours and slowly move down your entire body. And as soon as they look you down, they slowly start their way back up again. It makes me feel like that's all I have to offer, my looks that is.
