Chapter 7

Chief POV*

Casey: shes on life support now.. They dont know if shes gonna make it. Shes in a bad coma right now.
Me: well stay there with Antonio. Keep us posted
Casey; will do

I hung up and faced everyone. They all had worried looks on their faces.

Me: Dawson is in a coma and on support. Doctors dont think shes gonna make it..

I saw everyones head go down.

Me: we know Gabriela Dawson, and she is a fighter. She will walk out of there i know it. Shes one of our best and losing her would be losing part of ourselves. So i want everyone to help Casey and Antonio out. They both need as much help as possible.

They all nodded and the bells went off.

Main: SQUAD 3, AMBULANCE 61- Kid fell in river, Riverwalk pier

Kelly POV*

We pulled up to the scene as a mother was screaming.

Woman: MY SON FELL IN THE WATER PLEASE HELP HIM!
Me: Capp Tony and Mills, get the boat ready-Newhouse lets go!

We got geared up and jumped into the water. Jacobs and Shay were waiting for us. We swam down and found the boy. He wasnt moving. I tried to pull him but his leg was stuck. I dove deeper and was able to free his leg. We pulled him up to the surface. Mills and Capp pulled him onto the boat. We brought him to Katie and Shay as they started performing CPR.

Shay shook her head. The mother started crying.

Woman: HOW COULD YOU?! YOU KILLED HIM!
Shay: hey! Its not his fault! He did his job! Okay? We are sorry for your lose but next time watch your kids.

She stormed off and i had realized what Shay did. We went back to the house and i wasnt really happy with anything. I laid in my office just staring at the ceiling. I tried calling Erin but she didnt answer. I fell asleep and kept dreaming of the little boy in the river. I barely got any sleep because all i thought about was him.. And how i did nothing to save him..

-the next day-

Katie POV*

I was leaving the house as Shay stopped me.

Shay: you alright?
Me: yeah.. Im worried about Kelly though.
Shay; yeah im gonna try to talk to him..
Me: did you ever find an apartment yet?
Shay: no..
Me: well your more than welcome to stay with me and Jay
Shay; thanks.

I went home as Jay was getting ready for work.

Me: hey babe
Jay: hey how was work?
Me: crazy.. A little boy died drowning in the river.. We didnt save him in time.. Kelly really took it hard..
Jay: damn. You okay?
Me: yeah im fine

He kissed me.

Jay: see you at lunch
Me: yeah. Love you
Jay: love you too

He walked out and i showered. I laid on the couch and fell asleep. A couple of hours later Voight called up. He was telling me how Erin is missing.

Me: where could she be?
Voight: i dont know!
Me: did something happen that i dont know?

He hesitated.

Voight; she was raped.. And it really bothered her..
Me: oh god..

He got paged and had to get off. I told him if i saw her i would call him. Just then someone came to my door. I opened it to reveal Justin.

Me: JUSTIN!

I hugged him with joy!

Me: your back from military school!!
Justin; yeah.
Me: come in!

He came in and sat down.

Me: how you been?
Justin: fine. I missed home
Me: i missed my brother
Justin: i missed you too
Me: i still cant believe dad sent you to military school
Justin: back then you were the troubled kid. He was gonna send you away if you never listened but thank god one day you did. But now look, your his golden girl and im the deadbeat son.
Me: Justin! Your dad does not think that about you. In fact he said he missed you a lot. His house has been lonely.
Justin; i dont wanna go home just yet.. Can i crash here?
Me: you dont even have to ask that question! Go into the guest room.
Justin: thanks.

He walked into the room as someone came to my door again. I opened it and Jose was there.

Me: get away.
Jose; Katie, im clean, i am. I only came here to tell you something..
Me: what?
Jose: your cop friend Erin?
Me: yeah?
Jose: shes running around town with my old buddies doing drugs and shit.
Me: oh my god.. Look i need a favor
Jose: anything!
Me: go find your "buddies" and find Erin, once you do, call me and give me the location.
Jose: got it.
Me: thanks!

I shut the door and called Voight, he didnt answer so i left a message.

Me: VOIGHT LISTEN! JOSE CAME TO MY DOOR AND HE SAID ERIN IS BACK ON DRUGS. IM GONNA FIND HER! YOU AND INTELLIGENCE STAY IN THE OFFICE AND ILL CALL WHEN I HAVE HER!!!

I hung up and stood there. Thinking if i should leave yet or just wait... I was scared thinking about Erin back on drugs.. Kelly wont like to hear about that.. And the baby probably wont make it..
