Chapter 9

Kelly POV*

I went into my office and sat at my desk. I started looking through paperwork when something caught my eye. I looked over at the picture frame of me and Erin. We looked so happy together. I smiled a little. I picked up my phone and dialed her number. But i couldnt get the courage to call her. I was afraid she would hate me. I was disappointed in her but if i truly love her i will get past it. And i do love her. More than anyone will ever know. All of a sudden i heard someone running. I looked up to see Erin. She ran toward the lockers. I followed and listened to her and Katie's conversation.

Erin: really? Its not like you hurt me enough but you decide to take in Brooke after who she released from jail.
Katie; uhm..
Erin: i went by your house to see how Justin was and i see him and Brooke smooching on your couch.
Katie: Erin I-
Erin; whatever. Dont talk to me okay?

She stormed out and left. I walked up to Katie. She was speechless.

Me: Kate?

She turned to me with tears in her eyes. She jumped up and hugged me tightly.

Me; she didnt mean it.
Katie: but she did.. I know her..
Me: whos Brooke?
Katie: Kelly i dont think-
Me: Who is Brooke?
Katie: Erin's sister. They were separated when Erin was put up for adoption. I took care of Brooke for a while when i was in NY. Erin didnt know. But now her real mom is here in town and wants to meet with Brooke & Erin. I cant tell them though.
Me: Katie.. You cant keep this from them
Katie: i know but im waiting.. just till all this settles down.
Me; Any word on Jay?
Katie: no. Im not gonna go by till after shift.
Me: look Katie i know how it feels to have someone you love push you away. But dont push Jay away. He'll regret it if you do.
Katie: i love him. I do. I always will.
Me; then go to that hospital. Sit with him. And dont leave his side.

She nodded and left. I ran into Chief's office to tell him.

Me: hey chief! Jay got hurt and Katie went to the hospital to see him. Can someone cover for her?
Chief: ill send out a page to everyone.
Me; thanks.
Chief: Kelly.

I turned around.

Chief: get back to your crew, Captain Severide.

I stood there in shock but happy that i am now a captain. No longer lieutenant.
