I finished packing up my things for my week with Rebecca and headed for the door. My mom hopped into the driver's side and drove me across town. This took a half an hour of complete silence between my mom and I. The only noises we had were the cars that whizzed by and the radio. I did not really feel like talking still.
When we finally made it to the house, I grabbed my things getting out of the car as we said our goodbyes. I did not like doing this but I just did not want to talk. I walked up the stairs to the door, waving to Mom. I did not bother knocking or calling. They knew I was coming and left the door unlocked. When did they never leave there door unlocked when they were home?
I opened the door and saw no one was in the living room. I put my stuff down shutting the door. Their dogs came bolting out the other room to me before I could say anything.
"I'm home!" I called getting down to pet the dogs. I heard something fall and a little scream.
"SARA!!!!" I heard. Becca came running out her parent's room so excited. She step out and surveyed the house for me. I smiled in her direction once she saw me. I stood up catching her I my arms as she ran around couch. I rocked back and forth. I put her down and she dragged to to her parent's room. "Where's Marco-B?" She said as we came into sight of my step mom.
I looked up to see my step mom sitting up and moving in our direction. "Um, Becca, Marco and I had a fight." I said nervously, getting down on one knee.
"You guys are going to make up right? Like normal?" That just proves how much we would fight about me going to California.
I sighed, "No, not this time Bex."
"You guys broke up?" I shook my head to answer her question.
"I'm sorry, Sara!" Becca jumped into my arms, nocking me down to both knees.
"It's okay, it's for the best." I said patting her back.
"When?" my dad's voice boomed from the bathroom as he walked out.
"At the airport." I said as Becca's grip loosened. My dad walked over to the chase in front of their bed. As he sat, my step mom motioned me over to sit between them on the chase.
"Right after you got back from California?!" My step mom called. "That's not right!" She tried to comfort me but this was not working.
"No, its fine. He was prioritizing. He didn't want to stop me from traveling, while he staied behind for school. He was thinking of my dreams, of me."
"You already talked and cried to your best friends didn't you?" My step mom's head swung around to Dad. I smiled, my dad did this kind of thing all the time. Most of the time he was right!
"Trust me, I'm fine." Once those words reached my lips, Becca grabbed my hands and started pulling me.
"Then come on, we have some stuff to do before my party!" She was full of excitement. I laughed getting up, letting her pull me to her room.
That was pretty much exactly what we did. We planned some last minute stuff for her party, went swimming, went to Wet and Wild. I had to take her because it was just last year it reopened. Plus, there was the party. She had a blast. I was the hostess mostly. There were mainly kids there so, that was pretty much what I did. It was either hang with the adults or the kids.
Brad, our brother, came only for her party. Which was better because with us being just more than a year apart, we fight alot. He was having an awesome time, she was having a blast and I was having a good time. I love my family and not being able to see them killed me. Especially this being the first year away from them.
The rest of the week happened the same. We went swimming, went to Wet and Wild again, I had the money for it so why not? We had a lot of fun. When Monday came, Mom picked me up at eleven. Becca did not want to let me go.
"Bex, I don't want to be late for my flight! Plus I'm gonna go eat with my mom."
"Can I go eat with you and Mrs. Ann! Please!" She pleated.
"Rebecca, let her spend some time with her mom." my step mom said. I got down and pulled her into a big hug.
"I love you Bex, I'm not leaving forever, I promise!"
"Okay," she said into my shoulder. We pulled away, "I love you too."
I got into the car after the heart wrenching goodbyes. We set out for Applebee's. Mom insisted it be her treat. For about an hour we talked. She complemented my tattoos, asked me questions and I told her I met Our2ndLife.
"How did that go," she swollowed her eggs, "is Justin, Jc, whatever, perfect as he seemed through YouTube?" she smiled taking up some pancakes. I practically chocked on my lemonade. I was not expecting that.
"Mom!" I said before cleaning my face.
"What?" she said acting clueless.
"First of all," I jokingly laughed. "I never said he was perfect. And I just met the guys. If any one was perfect it was all of them." I laughed, "I don't know, Mom, like I said, I just met them, plus I don't even think I'll really be friends with them after that. Don't get me wrong, it would be nice but come on, Mom." We both laughed.
"Well, you know you want to have his kids." she just kept joking like a teenager.
"Mom!" I yelled playfully. We laughed again.
"You know I'm kidding!" she smiled. I do not think I have seen her smile like that in a while. I was happy she was proud of me, and happy for me. She was still pressuring and pestering me about collage but other than that, she said getting me my camera was the sencond best decision she made.
"What was the first?" I asked.
"To raise you and Brad." She said some what toward her food, which was almost gone. I smiled.
Once we finished, we left of the airport. I was an hour early, which was good. I got out and starting to take my things out of the trunk. I closed the trunk and gave my mom a long hug that was over due.
"Now, go on, you'll miss your flight." I laughed.
"No, I'll be fine. I told everyone that my flight was one hour earlier so I wouldn't be late. Lo siento (I'm sorry)."
"Don't be, you're fine. It was smart, you would have missed your flight." We said our goodbyes, and Mom and I were on our ways, with tears in our eyes.
The flight back was like expected but I just could not wait to get off this plane.
