19 | Serpent Tattoos

A/N: Surprise update! Because I just rounded 1K! Also there's a note in the end of this chapter that I would like you to respond to!

"People of Riverdale, I have rid this town of the drug-dealing child killer and others like him. Now you must choose your fate. The next 48 hours will be a test. And I will be watching you very closely. Show me you are pure of heart, and my work ends. Continue to sin and I will take up the sword again" Fangs read from the newspaper I had handed him in worry.

"Eh—quick question; Can you move to the Southside and stay away from Northsiders who may have targets on their backs for 48 hours?" Fangs asks and I sigh.

"No, I don't even have anyone to protect me or keep me company at home. My mom lied again, she didn't come home last night" I say with a frown.

"I'm sorry" Fangs said and tightened his grip around my waist as I sat on his lap. "It's okay, she does it every time. I guess I can crash at Betty's or Veronica's" I say and shrug.

"You can also stay here if you want" Fangs says carefully and I smile at him and kiss him. "For the next 48 hours I think I should stay on the Northside" I say as I pull away.

"Should I be offended?" Fangs asks with an eyebrow raised. "No, I just think it's easier if I'm surrounded with the girls" I say and he nods.

"So are yo—" Fangs starts but my phone cuts him off as it's ringing. I curse and see it's my mom. "Sorry I gotta take this" I say and stand up down Fangs' lap as he nods.

"Mom?" I say as I pick up.

"Honey, I'm coming home, I have some news for you. I'm having business friends over tomorrow night for dinner and it would really mean a lot to me if you were there" She says and I run a hand over my forehead.

"Seriously, mom? You're coming home and the first thing you do is getting business done in the house?" I say in disbelief and shake my head.

Fangs walks over and stand in front of me, he leans down and kiss my forehead and then look at me with soft eyes. I smile back with a weak smile.

"Please, do this for me—if I score this deal, I'll be home for over a month! We'll have time, honey, please" My mom begs.

"Fine, when are you here? And when are they coming?" I ask and Fangs raise an eyebrow.

"Thank you honey! I can be there in 3 hours from now, maybe sooner depends on the traffic. And they'll be there tomorrow at 7 o'clock" she says with relief.

"Alright, I'll see you then. There's also something I need to talk to you about" I tell her and lace my fingers with Fangs and he smiles at me.

"Okay, I'll see you soon honey" She says and I hang up.

"Mommy dearest are coming home" I say and fake smile as Fangs sighs knowing it wasn't good.

After I had welcomed my mom, Toni asked me if I wanted to join her for some drinks in the Whyte Wyrm. As I was about to walk inside the Whyte Wyrm to meet Toni for drinks, a hand grabs my arm and pulls me aside and i'm pushes up against a wall.

"What the hell?" I hiss and then the person walks into the light and I see it's Sweet Pea. "Sweet Pea? Are you really gonna hurt me?" I ask in disbelief.

"What's your play, Northsider" He says and I roll my eyes. Not again! He just stopped calling me Northsider, now he begins again.

"I saw you with Cheryl Blossom, you go to parties in the Southside, you're rich, you have everything on the Northside, why do you keep coming here? What do you want with us?" He says and as I try to move, he push me back into the wall again.

"Alright! I truly don't have a 'play' I don't want anything from you! Okay? I may be rich, but I like hanging around here" I defend myself.

Right now, is not the time to tell him I'm a Serpent. Nor tell him about Fangs and I. "And Cheryl Blossom?" He hisses.

"Listen, I've lived here in Riverdale before, I grew up here as a kid! Cheryl Blossom was my neighbour. So calm your shit!" I retort and push him back away from me.

"Why are you around Toni and Jughead?" He asks again.

"Because I like them, they're my friends. I care about them. I'm loyal to my friends, and I'm not gonna stop being friends with them, because you hate me and have a problem with me!" I spit and Sweet Pea glares at me.

"Let's see how Loyal you are, then" Sweets says and I raise an eyebrow. "Go in there and do the Serpent dance" He dares.

"I can't" I say and mentally curse. "Let's see how loyal you are. If I show you something, can you keep it to yourself until I want everyone to know?" I ask and Sweet Pea raises an eyebrow.

"Why would I keep it to myself? I owe you nothing" He scoffs.

"Because, it's gonna be embarrassing for you if you tell it to anyone, and then you've broken a few rules too" I say with a smirk and his face pales even more.

"What is it?" He snaps. I take off my leather jacket and lift up in my shirt and with a sigh, I turn my left side to him and show him my Serpent tattoo.

"What the—" Sweet Pea starts, but shut himself up, he traces his finger over my tattoo and I roll my eyes.

He checked if it was real, no—Sweet Pea—you're hallucinating. "Are you done?" I ask and Sweet Pea remove his hand and I pull my shirt down.

"When? How?" He asks in a new tone. "My dad is a Serpent, but he's in jail now. He got me this tattoo and it was special made" I tell him honestly and cross my arms.

"B-But you're a Northsider...you're one of those rich kids" Sweet Pea stutters.

"That I am. But, I am also a Serpent. I'm rich, yeah. I can't do anything about that. I live on the Northside, but I'm all Southside" I tell him.

Sweet Pea goes into thinking mode before sighing and he turns to me again. "Fine. You have to keep it a secret or else you will fuck everything up. I'm keeping your secret, but I don't want you around me. At all—Toni, that's fine. Fangs, I can't speak for, he's a mess. But you stay away from me, got it?" Sweet Pea says and I nod.

"Thank you, Sweet Pea" I tell him honestly and give him a small smile.

"It all makes goddamn sense now" Sweet Pea mumbles, before pushing me inside with his hand on my back, before walking away from me.

He walks over to Fangs who's sitting in a couch and I do a small wave at him and he smiles at me. "Did I just see Sweet Pea and you walk in at the same time?" Toni asks dumbfounded.

"He just wanted to remind me how he hates me" I say and shrug carelessly. "Why am I not surprised" Toni snorts before giving me a drink.

"So, when do you get off your shift?" I ask and take a sip. "In 2 hours" she says and looks up at a clock.

"Well, then let's have some fun" I say and smirk before looking over at Sweet Pea.

"Agreed—I'll drink to that, cheers" Toni says and clink our shots glass and I feel Fangs' stare in my back. Right now I wished I didn't have to keep our relationship a secret, but if we dropped the bomb the other bombs would be dropped too.
