The Summer That Changed Everything

Chapter 7

I woke up to 3 texts from Ashton.

Ashton: Hey Bailey last night was so much fun

Ashton: Text me when u wake up

Ashton: I miss you 🙁

It gave me butterflies. Someone actually wants me for once. I walked into the kitchen, skipping.

"what's got you all happy?" I didn't realize that Cadence was in the room.

"Why do you care?" I was still mad at him for last night. I have every reason to be.

"Whatever." He rolled his eyes and turned back around. What the hell Is his problem. What did I even do?

After I finally woke up I texted back Ashton.

Me: Hey, I just woke up, hang out on the beach in 30 mins?

He texted me back almost instantly

Ashton: Sounds like a plan

I can tell this is going to be a great summer. I rushed to my room and turned the light on not caring that Riley was still asleep.

Riley shot up, "Hey! I'm still trying to sleep here!"

"Sorry, I'm getting ready to hang out with Ashton on the beach."

"Ugh well hurry up and turn the light off before you leave."

"Alright."

I grabbed my white bikini and threw it on I also grabbed my white baseball cap and put it on backwards. I walked out the room and turned the light off just like Riley told me to do. As I'm walking out the door Cadence asks me, "where are you going?"

I was still really pissed at him so I responded with, "It's none of your buisness" and rushed out the door.

I got to the beach and didn't see Ashton, so I texted him.

Me: Hey where you at? I'm here and don't see you

As soon as I send the text someone grabs my phone and throws it in the sand and picked me up. I didn't know who it was at first so I was freaking out, but then I realized it was Ashton.

"Hey Ash." I said flirtatiously.

"Hey Bailey."

He then threw me into the ocean just like I suspected he would, I didn't mind though it was cute when he did it. Everything about him was cute. When I finally came back above the water I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. It felt like the right thing to do.

He was the first to pull away, "hey bailey, can I ask you a question?"

"Yea of course, you can ask me anything."

"You sure there's nothing going on with you that dude?"

"Cadence? No, I mean I used to have a huge crush on him but then I met you and that vanished. Now I only want to be with you."

He looked shocked, like he's never have someone tell him that before, "promise?"

I took his face and out lined his jaw line with my finger, I then leaned in and kissed him once, "promise." He then smiled a smile so big, it literally went all the way to his ears. I hugged him, I never wanted to let go. I looked up still hugging him, Cadence was up on the balcony looking down at me, he looked disappointed. Disappointed about what? I had no idea? But I didn't really care all I care about right now was this moment. This moment that I never wanted to end. But, I knew it would.

As we said our good bye's for the night, I could still feel Cadence watching from the balcony. His eyes burning into my back. I still didn't know what his deal was.

I walked into the room and Cadence was sitting on the couch as innocently as ever as if he had not just spent the last 3 hours stalking me. I decided to be petty so I said, "You like the show?" I stood over him with my arms crossed, I was as pissed as ever.

"Yea, y'all totally kept it PG out there." I could here the sarcasm in his voice, we definitely did NOT keep it PG out there. But it really wasn't any of his business.

"What's your deal Cade?" I was done with acting like I wasn't totally pissed at him.

"Nothing!"

"Obviously it's something!"

"You wouldn't care anyway!" Now that hurt. I cared more about him than like anyone else. He should no that.

"If I didn't care I wouldn't have asked. Just tell me!"

"Fine you remember that night, that night you and Riley got drunk?"

"Yea what about it?" My phone vibrated in my pocket, it was probably Ashton. I decided to ignore it though.

"Are you going to get that?"

"No, I'm talking to you. Now, what about that night?"

He took a deep breath before continuing, "well, you said something that night."

"What did I.....say?" I hesitated not really knowing if I wanted to know. I was pretty drunk that night so I could have said anything.

"You....uh....you said you loved me." I swear my heart completely stopped. Out of anything I could have possible said why did it have to be that?

"Oh. And what did you say?"

"I said I would tell you if I loved you or not when you weren't drunk."

"Yea, and?"

"And......I love you, Bailey." I didn't know what to do. Of course I still loved Cadence, how could I not. But, then there's Ashton. He's loved me from moment we met. I had to make a decision would it be Cadence or Ashton? I wasn't sure yet I needed time to think.

I wasn't sure how to react to what Cadence had just said so the first thing to think of was run out the door. So I did, almost knocking over hungover Riley in the process. I needed to clear my head.
