We get back to the room giggling and talking about Ashton.
"What are y'all so giggly about?" Cadence asks us. Before I can say anything Riley jumps in, "Bailey totally got hit on this dude named Ashton! He's going to meet her at the bonfire tonight!" Cadence looked hurt when he heard this, but that mood changed quickly.
"Sounds fun. Am I invited to this bonfire?" He smiles, but it looks forced.
"I mean duh, you don't have to be invited. You just show up." I got bored so I walked into the bedroom to figure out what I was going to wear, I wanted something flirty a little out of my comfort zone. Maybe I could check out Riley's suitcase.
Riley walked in so I asked her if I could wear something of hers, of course she said yes. I let her pick my outfit for me. She picked out some cute white cut off shorts and a pastel pink crop top, along with her knee high, brown gladiator sandals. I looked super cute thanks to Riley. She curled my hair for me, she made it little beach curls. I looked fricking hot!
"Thanks Riles!"
"No problem, I mean what are best friends for?" She looked super cute too, she was wearing a burgundy tank top and light wash blue jean shorts. She decided not to wear shoes with it. Both of us decided to wear our bikinis underneath just in case. We walked out the bedroom, Cadence looked at us. I swear I saw him take a double take.
"Cade. Why aren't you ready?" Riley asked him accusingly.
"I'll get ready in a little bit, I'll meet y'all there."
"Alright, whatever. Come on Bailey let's start heading down there." You could see out the glass door to the balcony that the bonfire had already started, apparently it's supposed to last until like 3:00 in the morning.
We got to the bonfire, it was amazing! They had music blasting on the stereo. I think they were playing Gnash or something. I looked around and I didn't see Ashton, but I mean it was still early he probably just hasn't gotten here yet. Riley pulled me over to the table full of beer. She handed me a cup full of something, obviously beer I just wasn't sure what kind. I didn't care I drank it anyway.
I was starting to get a little bit tipsy when someone came up behind me and whispered in my ear, "guess who?" I turned around instantly and hugged him because it felt like the right thing to do even though I have only talked to him one time.
"Ashton!'
"The one and only!" He took of an imaginary top hat, his humor was adorable. I couldn't help but smile.
"come on let's go sit by the bonfire" he grabbed my hand and pulled me away, I looked back at Riley who was giving me a thumbs up. I could already tell tonight was going to be a fun night.
I followed him over to an unoccupied blanket laying in the sand. He laid down on it looking up at the stars so I laid down next to him.
"The sky's so pretty at night isn't it?" He asked me with a little admiration in his voice.
"Yea it's beautiful" I agreed.
"Not as beautiful as you." He had stopped looking at the sky and was looking at me now. It felt as if he was going to kiss me. I smiled hoping he would, but he looked back up at the sky instead.
I decided to start a conversation, "So" I started. "Do you live around here?" I asked.
"Um no actually. You?"
"No. If you don't live around here where do you live?"
"I live in Oregon, I'm only here for the summer."
"I live in California, not that you asked, I don't ev..." He cut me off. He cut me off mid sentence and started kissing me. I was kissing him back. Sparks were flying, I could feel it wonder if he felt it too.
We heard someone cough, like the kind of cough you do when you're trying to get someone's attention. Which he was. Ashton and I both pulled away and looked up. Standing above us was Cadence.
"Oh, hey Cade." I said embarrassingly
"Yea, hey Bailey."
Ashton decided to join in with, "did I miss something? Are y'all like a thing or something?"
"Me and her? No, we've just been best friends for like ever. Sorry I interrupted. Get back to making out." Cadence looked as if he was about to cry, he sounded hurt. He turned around and started walking away, I followed after him.
"What was that?" I ask him.
"What was what?" He sounded annoyed.
"That scene you made back there? Are you mad at me or something? You've been acting so weird all day."
"Yes I'm mad at you Bailey!" That took me back. Why was he mad at me? What did I even do?
"What the hell did I do?"
"Nothing, okay." He turned away and tried to walk away, and I let him. I wasn't going to let Cadence ruin my perfect night with Ashton.
I walked back over to where Ashton was still sitting. "Hey" I said to him like all that hadn't just happened. But of course he brought it up.
"What was that?" He asked.
"It's nothing, just forget about it let's just focus on us and tonight. Okay?"
"Alright." He didn't ask anymore questions after that but I could tell he wanted to. We had a fun night that night, just me and him. We even exchanged contact information and everything, that meant that there would hopefully be a next time.
The night finally came to an end when Riley was ready to go and to drunk to walk by herself. I helped her back to the room. I got her in bed and I climbed in my self. Best. Night. Ever.
We were even planning on hanging out tomorrow too. I couldn't wait.
