Theodora stared at Dumbledore. She didn't like him much. In his eyes she could see distrust. He didn't trust her and she knew he was hiding something.

"Let's go get your school things then." Dumbledore said.

Theodora nodded. Dumbledore led the way and they left the orphanage. Theodora couldn't stop thinking about her father. Who was he? What was his name? Why did he abandon her? So many questions, so little answers.

"Grab my arm," Dumbledore instructed. Theodora stared at him in confusion. "We're going to apparate to Diagon Alley." he added. Theodora had no idea what 'apparating' was but she grabbed his arm and felt a pulling sensation in her navel. It was quite uncomfortable. When she opened her eyes they were outside a dirty old pub called 'The Leaky Cauldron'. Dumbledore strode through but the barman stopped him.

"Fancy a drink, Dumbledore?" he called, looking up from where he was wiping the tables.

"Sorry, Tom, I'm on Hogwarts business." Dumbledore replied cheerfully, a smile on his face. He placed a hand on Theodora's shoulder.

Tom glanced at Theodora and smiled. "Hello, first time at Hogwarts?"

"Yep, technically it's my second but first year." Theodora said.

Tom looked a little confused but nodded. Theodora waved and followed Dumbledore outside. He was tapping the bricks with a stick. A wand. Suddenly, the bricks moved and created a passage. Diagon Alley appeared.

"Welcome to Diagon Alley." Dumbledore smiled.

Theodora looked all around in amazement, everything was so bright and busy, children ran from shop to shop while their parents followed, holding tons of bags. Broomsticks could be seen in shop windows, children clamering, trying to get a glimpse of the newest model. Theodora saw a glimpse of smooth mahogany wood, and a name, inscribed on the side in gold.

"We have to get you out some money." Dumbledore said, pointing to Gringotts. A bank of some kind?

Theodora followed Dumbledore to Gringots and gasped; It was run by goblins. She stayed well away from them, slightly afraid of their stern expressions and pointed elf-like ears. Dumbledore approached one, an old goblin with tuffs of white hair poking out of his ears. The goblin wore a bored expression.

"I'd like to withdraw some money for Miss Riddle." Dumbledore said, casually leaning against the desk.

The goblin stared at Theodora and said in a rude voice. "Do you have her key?" Dumbledore nodded and retrieved a small gold key from his robes. Dumbledore handed the goblin the key and they all took a cart ride to the vaults.

"Vault six hundred and thirty seven." The goblin said, unlocking Theodora's vault. There were so many coins. But the money was unlike anything Theodora had ever seen, there no pound coins, it was all big fat coins in bronze, silver, gold. Where was the five pound notes? And the twenty's? Dumbledore explained the coins (she still didn't understand after he explained the coins values, something about sickles, galleons and knuts) and helped Theodora get some in a little brown bag.

They took the cart ride back, Dumblefore thanked the goblin and they went shopping. "I'll meet you at the Ollivanders in an hour, then we'll get your wand," Dumbledore said to Theodora. Theodora nodded and headed towards 'Madam Malkins robes for all ocassions'

And so it begins.
