Kat's POV. Chapter 7

When I ran inside our home with Mack, she was sobbing. "Jesus Mack!" I yelled. "What's wrong with you?! Now my wrists are bruised even more!" Mack sat down and blubbered her story about what Dally did. "I don't know why I pulled away. I like him and all but I don't want to just kiss and stuff. I want a REAL relationship!" I looked at Mack with my "get real" face. "Mack, I hate to tell ya," I started. "But, this is Dallas Winston we are talking about! From what Soda's told me, he's a jerk to girls! And from what I understand, he's not gonna change!" Mack gave me a sort of desperate and guilty look. "Oh no," I said. "You're trying to change him! Mack, Dally's never gonna be in a real relationship and you can't change that!" "And what would you know about relationships anyways Kat?!" Mack shot back. She had a point. I had never been in a real relationship before. "Forget it!" she yelled

and stormed off to bed. I started to walk to the kitchen when I saw a note on the counter. This is what I read....

Dear girls,

We are out getting groceries. We will not be back for a while. Love you guys! Goodnight!"

Love,

Mom and Dad

'Great' I thought. 'Another night alone.' I flopped on the couch, covered up, and slowly fell asleep.

.. . . . . . . . . . . . .

I woke up the next morning and got ready for the race. In no less than fifteen minutes, I was knocking on Soda's door. When no one answered, I slowly let myself in. "Hello?" I said. All I heard was whimpering and crying. "Soda?" I called. I walked in the living room and there he was, crying in the couch. "Sodapop, what's wrong?" His big brown eyes met mine and he blurted the whole thing out. He told me of his girlfriend, Sandy. He said things had been going great with her and she showed up just moments earlier. He said for no reason she told him they had to go their separate ways and broke up with him. After he told me, he cried even more, whimpering with with each sniffle. I sat down and wrapped my arms around him. "Oh Soda," I cried. "I'm so sorry." After a few more minutes of sobbing, wiping tears, and hugging I let go. "You know what heals a heartbreak?" I asked. He looked up and

sniffled. "What?" I smiled mysteriously. "A good old Pepsi-Cola from the DX." Soda laughed and got up to go with me to the DX. Before he went out the door I said, "Sodapop?" "Yeah?" He turned to face me. Here was the moment. 'Tell him you love him' I thought. "Nevermind." Soda just turned and walked out. Well, it was too late now.
