Chapter 29:

Marcus excused himself to look over the clean-up, thankfully not a lot of things were ruined during the attack but the rouges did destroy a construction site and attempted to trash more than one school but they didn't get too far in.

I didn't have much today and with Marcus gone my chest was aching. Back in my room Mary was folding some laundry in my closet, my phone was placed neatly on the chest of drawers next to the bed. I grabbed it and threw myself on the bed.

I had a missed call from all my friends and three from dad. I called him back first, it rang for a while and as I was about to hang up the phone picked up.

"HELLO THIS IS ALPHA ALLENS PHONE BUT HE SAID I CAN PICK UP." Andrew yelled down the phone. I quickly pulled the phone away from my ear laughing.

"Hey Drew-baby, you don't have to shout I can hear you fine." I said to him. He cheered and I can almost see him jumping around. He yelled my name continuously and I heard him running. He called out Rachel's name and a door open from his side of the phone.

"Vi Vici! She's in the phone. She's in the phone!"

I started laughing.

"V! hi!!" he stretched out his words and didn't bother containing his happiness.

"Hi baby, how are you?"

"I'm so happy. I got a star in school and now I'm taking to you! It's the best day ever!" he exclaimed.

"Really?! That's awesome. Well done Hun." I sat up and walked to the balcony. I let my hair go as I listen to him ramble about how his teacher gave him a star for helping a friend clean up, later on, he gave the phone to Rachel and then to the twins and finally after around an hour of talking I ran out of credit.

As the sun began to set the weather got colder, I leaned further into the chair in the balcony and closed my eyes. With all the things I have been doing the pack I had barley anytime to myself, I didn't quite figure out what I was feeling but hearing the kids voices and hearing how much I'm missing from their life made my heart ache.

According to Rachel, Liam had begun holding the feeding bottle by himself, he's crying less and laughing more, his eyes are also changing colour from hazel to our family signature brown. She also mentioned how she was making friends and got the highest score in her class.

The wind blew gently and its whistle melodised with the humming of the trees. I closed my eyes and for a few short seconds, I was sitting on the roof. The first time I ever climbed on the roof was to hide from Claire while we were playing but I got stuck and dad had to climb up to get me.

Claire was the cause of many incidents where dad ended up helping us. Now however Alex is the cause of the kid's accidents with his wild lies about his so-called adventures. To be fair most of his adventures happened but he tends to be over dramatic and a huge story teller, the kids love it and it really isn't doing any harm to anyone so I just let him be.

I jolted up when my shoulder exploded with sparks from a hand, I looked to meet Marcus's eyes and he looked at me confused. He lifted his other hand slowly, like you would do to a wounded animal and placed on my face gently, he then with his thumb wiped under my eyes. I felt the tears move.

I hadn't realized that I was crying.

"Your upset." He said moving from next to me to sit in the chair across me.

I nodded wiping the rest of the tears away, I took a deep breath and met his eyes.

"Why?"

"I miss my family."
