Mr. Fiddlehap stared at the ceiling of his cell and counted the remaining days mentally. He rose from the bed and went over the opposite wall to mark another line indicating the number of days that the police kept him in jail. While doing that, his mind was filled with nothing but one person. The only person he always fantasized of making love to and being forever with.
As the days were coming to a close, he looked at the mirror to see himself stare back at him. His eyes were dull and lifeless, something else had clouded all other thoughts. There was one thing he had in mind. It was a simple thought. A boggling cloud that could bring him the peace he sought after. He would definitely claim her this time. Nothing was going to stop him now. Absolutely nothing.
Pictures drawn in the void were but imaginations left unpainted. Certain warnings when left unheard often bore the wrong choices one would make in life. Often were the times when they occur, and when they do, fate would always make sure that the stakes were high. It won't hold anything back, not in its mercy.
"Kerxy, no matter what you do, don't leave Flarion alone at home, okay?"
Kerxis had raised a brow over Castellone's voice of warning like something bad was about to happen somehow. He couldn't comprehend his brother's attitude that kept reminding him not to leave his wife. Who was he kidding? He had work to attend.
He thought it was absurd when he turned his phone off after the call. He knew Castellone was just acting frantic because there was never a woman in their family that carried a child right after their mother died. He thought his brother was just being cautious all of a sudden because Flarion was pregnant.
He did appreciate the thought, but the way Castellone sounded was uncanny. It wasn't like him at all. Kerxis debated on whether or not to heed his brother's wariness. It was beginning to sink into him how much it affected Castellone to have a woman in the family after years of not caring for one. He had his mother, and father, to blame for leaving them early.
When he and Flarion finally settled around the house, he reconsidered Castellone's concern and thought of the possible things he could do just to put his brother's nerves at ease. But as it turned out, Flarion was persistent of not needing any help at all.
"You sure you're going to be okay? I can call a helper if you want, I know a few trustworthy names. Besides, I don't want you to stress yourself out." Kerxis said.
Flarion smiled at the concern her husband was showing ever since taking the temporary leave from the university four days ago. He's been acting frantic about leaving her behind with no one to support her around the house. He fidgeted like the baby was going to give that ray of sunshine under their roof tomorrow.
She patted the empty space on the bed beside her. She was tucked on her side comfortably. "I'll be fine, Kerxis, you don't have to worry about me being helpless, I can handle myself perfectly, so why don't you get over here because it's getting really cold."
Kerxis did the minute wiping off the leftover foam from his chin after a shave. He held her belly and placed his ear against it. "Don't give your mom too much stress when I'm not around, you hear me, embryo?" Then he settled beside Flarion after giving a fatherly reminder to their son.
Another boy was slowly building its way into the family. If that continued, Flarion would be outnumbered. She smiled at the thought of being surrounded by unique individuals that carried the name of Signo. Kerxis and Castellone were somewhat polar opposites in attitude, but they were the same in taste despite that. She wondered what kind of personality will their son have comes that joyous day. As a soon-to-be mother, she was excited to know.
