The feeling of guilt was a pang of serious burden in the chest whenever people did or said something out of their league for who knows what reason. Those reasons vary for everyone and whatever triggered the act, well, Abrielle was no psychology student so she might as well stop pacing around the room while Siniyah told her stories.
Abrielle wasn't particularly paying attention to her roommate while she continued to pace around the room. Thoughts about the freak flooded her and she was feeling bad about one damn thing.
"Abrielle, were you listening?" Siniyah asked that pulled her out of her train of thought.
"Sorry, I was thinking of something." Abrielle said and finally stopped moving.
"Something or someone?" It was obvious in Siniyah's tone that she wanted to pry.
"Someone." Abrielle didn't hesitate to say it.
"Okay, talk to me." Siniyah said and settled straight on her bed, immediately forgetting what she was telling her friend. She was anticipating whatever Abrielle had to tell her and what had gone wrong during the day. She was eager to know. Because she knew it must be news about the Maze Runner.
Abrielle opened her mouth and was about to say something, but she immediately zipped her lips and decided not to tell her. She changed her mind, realizing she had to face it without saying anything to anyone first. "I can't, sorry. I realize I have something to do right now. I'll tell you some other time."
She rushed outside their room and out of the dormitory building where the cool night's breeze tingled her skin. Siniyah was left confused all of a sudden, wanting to know what was with Abrielle.
The campus was lit with outdoor lamp posts. Abrielle could see each of the buildings' interior that were beaming with light. The university appeared livelier during the night, probably because of night and make-up classes.
As she trotted through the loggia of the English building, she noticed someone stood by the entrance. The figure was facing her direction. She could only see the silhouette of the person. When she met the person's gaze, she immediately recognized those cerulean eyes.
"What are you doing here? It's not like you have night classes." She said while approaching him through the staircase.
When she closed their distance, he didn't say anything and actually ran inside the building leaving her outside. It made her wonder why and decided to follow him inside. He may hate her, but he wasn't the type to run away from her and that was one thing she was sure of. It was quite odd.
She chased after him and turned to a corner where he disappeared. She was panting while following him to the upper floors which seemed to have taken forever before they've reached the eighth floor. The eight floor were the laboratory rooms for thesis discussions of the graduate program. No one was really there as of the moment. Most of the time, the eight floor was empty.
She stopped when Castellone did. They were currently inside one of the lecture rooms, his back was facing her. She had to narrow her gaze at him and it was then that she noticed the lights were out in that area. The only thing that illuminated the hallway was the light of the moon seeping through the windows. Still, it was dark.
"Hey, why were you running away?" She asked after catching her breath. For some reason, Castellone didn't respond or move. She took that as silent treatment. Okay, so now he wants to play mute?
"Look, I'm sorry for what I said earlier that might have offended you, but I mean it when I said you have to stop telling people to die." She continued, but Castellone didn't respond still.
