26 January, Monday

My legs started to fall asleep as the purring kitten refused to move. I checked the time on my phone for the millionth time this morning, 5:30. I had already been up in the hayloft, hanging out with the barn cats, for half and hour. Gently removing the adorably creature from my leg, I peered out the window at the erupting sky. The sun had brought its colours to wake up the world, or some of the world. I sighed and climbed down from the hayloft. Walking over to Angels stall, I leant against it, peering inside. Someone had already opened the metal section at the top, rolling it to the side. Maybe it was me, I thought. When I had stumbled down to the stables this morning I had still been pretty groggy. Sighing I slid the gate open and joined Angel, on the warm January morning.

"I have to go to school today girl," I sighed softly to her.

Angel opened one of her eyes slightly, looking over at me. She shuffled slightly before dangling her head beside me. I laughed as I sat down, Angel bent her legs and joined me. Resting her head on my lap, I lovingly stroked her neck. Plugging in my earphones, I set an alarm for 6. Turning my playlist on, I leant against Angel, closing my eyes for a second.

An alarm filled my ears, a drastic change from the acoustic guitar music. I shot up, scaring Angel a little.

"Sorry girl," I mumbled.

I hadn't planned to fall asleep, but at least another half hour had passed. I wasn't expecting Mr O'Riley to put the teams up until 6:30, but even that was unlikely. Maybe 7. Removing my earphones I shoved gently at Angel to make her move to her feet. I stifled a yawn before getting to my feet and stretching.

"Good early morning Miss Willows," Sam said,  leaning against the stall. "No doubt waiting for the riding teams,"

I nodded my head and smiled. Although the other riders had been here for past years, Mr O'Riley had gone through his notes of their progress to see if they stayed or moved up or down. Sam continued with his morning rounds as I brushed off the wood clippings that had lodged themselves to my camouflage breeches. I had gone for natural colours around the stable this morning. I was wearing a white polo with a brown vest, I had on my dark brown riding shoes as well. I wanted to wear a clean and presentable uniform for my first day of school. It just meant I made the painful choice to get into barn clothes, get out of them, and than get back into them. My phone buzzed in my pocket and I saw a text from Paige.

Paige❤: You are 2 obsessed girl! Let me bring some brekie down 2 u!

Me: Fiiine! If you must

I smiled and shoved my phone back into my pocket, saying goodbye to Angel before heading over to the front archway to meet Paige.

20 minutes later Paige came walking along the path. She had on the prestigious schools uniform. For the boys it meant dress pants or black shorts, a polo (there were 4 colours, white, black, blue and gold. Hardly anyone wore gold, mainly the white and blue ones were worn) with the school emblem, white socks, black shoes and any black warmth items if needed. For formal occasions a tie and blazer was added. For the girls the uniform consisted of dress pants, black shorts or a skirt. The shorts or skirt had to have the american finger tip rule. A polo but with a formal v neck, not stretching down far, white socks and black shoes. Stockings and any warmth related or fashion related items, as long as they were black, were allowed. For formal occasions a smaller tie and blazer was needed. Paige looked great in a skirt and white polo, she had paired it with black boots.
