i started seeing you everywhere after that.

you were in history, in chemistry, in physical education, in maths. i used to think it was such a lucky coincidence that we were in almost all of each other's classes. i thought about greeting you in the hall a few times. but were you ever going to say 'hello' back? i didn't think you would. so i stuck to the usual routine: sit a few seats behind you in the classroom and stare in longing or pass you in the halls and try my best not to stare.

i couldn't understand my sudden interest in you. i didn't even know your name back then. but i could sense that i should've known who you were. people always turned their heads when you passed. boys and girls— they stared at you with the same kind of longing i did.

the days dragged on and i desperately racked my brain for an idea. i needed something to happen so you and i would collide once again. but the universe didn't move an inch. i felt the need to disturb destiny myself.

and so i focused on finding a bridge that would lead me to you. i noticed you were often with this boy from chemistry. he seemed amicable enough, i thought, maybe i could use him.

and so i did.
