Melissa
It's been weeks since I had last spoken to Thea and Rose.
I couldn't do it anymore, I wasn't able to hold myself together even though the pieces are unrecognisable and I am unrepairable.
As the days went by, my heart was undeniably heavier; my life lost all meaning; my eyes had dark bags under them; the spring in my step turned into shuffling along the floor; my effort to ignore Thea and Rose went down the drain as they confronted me.
"What is your problem" Thea stood in front of me, towering over me with her five-foot self as I was sitting on the couch, hoping the ground would swallow me whole - ending my suffering.
I stared blankly, wishing Thea walked away from me, away from my lie, let me end this suffering. She would be better off without me and that though physically and emotionally hit me, like a slap across the face by reality.
I looked at her, the worry in her eyes spoke more volumes than I did ant that had hurt her, I had been her best friend for years.
Had
The voice taunted me making me realise that Thea would move on, she had Rose and Rose had Thea and they would find another girl to replace me as I no longer acted like their best friend. I had enough being the scared girl and wanted to finish what I started.
I wasn't ready to dump my problems on Thea again when she had her own problems that were deeper than mine, she had a harder life yet she still had the ability to make it seem like she was happy all the time.
Rose stood next to her, prepared for an explanation, the distress also evident in her eyes.
I'm a bad friend.
I ended up pulling Thea and Rose down with me while trying to keep them out of it and no matter how hard I tried to distance myself, I couldn't and I destroy lives - even my own family's life.
I ran out of the apartment, running like my life depended on it and the need to just stand in the middle of the road when the traffic lights are green was overwhelming.
I could hear Thea and Rose behind me, I slowed down but I didn't realise that I was off the pavement and onto the road, I could hear the honking of a car, blaring in my ears causing a ringing.
I felt a jerk back and the car zoomed past, cursing me for nearly sending them to jail.
I turned around to see who pulled me and saw it was Zayn Knight, the boy who had single-handedly ruined my life yet I couldn't do anything.
I could hear panting, the tears streaming down their face felt like someone had stabbed me in the heart.
"Thank you, Zayn!" Thea exclaimed, her eyes reflected the relief.
He smiled at her, I could see his eyes twinkle and I realised something that Thea or Zayn would never realise willingly or admit, "No problem, I'll let you guys talk, stay safe." He nodded at me and I wanted to scream, let him know it was his fault but deep down I knew it was no one's fault but mine, but I couldn't accept that I ruined my own life.
