Chapter Eight-

Don't Worry About Him

This is the worst thing. Sure, I have done it two times now but I don’t think it will get easier the more I do it. Yes, I am breaking up with Nick. He is likes to control me too much and I just don’t trust him like I use to. I am kind of scared about how he will react, not nervous but scared. I don’t know when to do it either, tomorrow or today or in a week? No, I have to do it today otherwise I will just keep putting it off.

‘Nick, I am coming over after work. Need to talk,’ I text him. I was going to type hugs and kisses at the end but that is too realtionshippy.  After that I left a note to Alex telling him to go find the boys, if he gets lost give me a call and telling him not to forget to lock up before leaving.

“Hey there, Cassie,” someone from behind me called as I was walking through the office.

Turning around I notice it is Declan, “Hey, how was your night?” I ask him politely.

“Oh, nothing too special it was just a quiet night in. I was wondering, do you want to go out for dinner sometime this week? I am leaving on Saturday and I think it would be nice to go out,” he explained cautiously. Declan had been working here since I had, maybe a year or two before me and he was ready for a change of workplaces so he was moving out of the state for a different job.

“With just me or with some other friends?” I asked kind of suspiciously. Sure, he was a nice guy but he was in the friend zone.

“Other people, I have invited practically the whole office. Most people are up for Friday night which is fine with me since I won’t have to leave till the afternoon,” he is a bit of a talker, “Is that fine with you?”

“Sounds great, do you mind if I bring some friends? They won’t be here for much longer either, so?”

“That’s ok; Jake is bringing some friends too.”

“Thanks, well I have to go. Tell me more details later,” I said walking away from him and over to my desk.

Nick opened the door for me and led me in before asking me why I was here.

“I need to talk to you,” I said simply, unsure if I should go for it straight away or ease into it.

“Continue.”

Taking a deep breath I explained, “I don’t think we should be together anymore. I feel as though we won’t different things. I like you, just as a friend though.”

He raised his eyebrows and told me I was making the biggest mistake of my life before yelling, “Get out of my house.”

I gladly did before he could hurt me then ran down to my car and drove away. Let’s hope I don’t have to be friends with him.

I drove straight back to my place to find the boys sitting outside of my place looking lost. When they spotted my car they all jumped up, excited to be let in.

“Guys, what are you doing here?”

“Logan’s place is boring,” Randy said and all the boys agreed.

“Yeah, he was with this chick and they were making out like the WHOLE time. It was ridiculous so we just caught the train back here,” Alex said casually as I let them all in.

“How long have you been here for?”

“About an hour, we thought you finished earlier?”

“I had to stop by Nick’s.”

“Booty call?” that was Chase.

“No, the opposite; I broke up with him,” I said sitting down after grabbing a drink.

“What? Why?” Alex asked honestly surprised.

“He isn’t right for you.”

“He is a douche.”

“Don’t worry, we will take care of you,” Chase said with a wink.

“It is fine; I have been meaning to do it for a while. He just, well I don’t really like him how I use to,” I told them. I honestly wasn’t bothered by it too much. “What do you wanna do?”

“Do you have monopoly?”

“No, Chase!” Alex and I both called making me laugh.
