Becoming a Stranger

All you're doing is dwelling.

Dwelling over verbal fights,

All it does is bite.

Bites you in the back,

Like those friends in your pack.

Friends like these,

Love to see you flee,

Running and running away,

Until you keep them at bay.

But like a fish,

You swish around

Until they reel you back in.

Reel you in with lies,

And you are not that wise.

You take the bait,

And finally they put you on the hot plate.

You burn and burn with anger,

To you, they are cancer.

Cancer that won't go away,

Making you weaker, and you say,

"I can't take it anymore."

They ignore your pleas,

And hurt you with ease.

But the second you threaten,

Threaten to leave,

They put you in a false security,

You start to see their maturity.

Only for a minute,

And then they quit it.

You finally see.

They'll never change,

"So strange,"

You think.

Strange to find,

A stranger before your eyes.

All you can say is, "Welp. At least I tried."
