Chapter 10: But...

The suns rays crept into the bedroom through the poorly closed curtains, Mei was curled up tight to Yuzu as they lay in a loving embrace, their hearts beating almost as one. Yuzu had a soft smile spread across her face as she cuddled her lover, she enjoyed holding Mei as her body was always soft and a pleasure to touch.

Mei woke up first, gently placing a soft kiss on Yuzu's neck before she sat up. Mei looked around the room and grinned to herself, she was glad she didn't forget a single moment from last night. Mei stretched and allowed the sunlight to touch her skin, the warmth caused her grin to turn to a smile, it was going to be a nice day out and she just knew it. Mei hopped out of bed and made her way to the bathroom, leaving Yuzu to sleep in. 

Meanwhile, Ume was making breakfast for the two. she was happy they were both getting along, but she could tell something was off due to how... close. they had gotten in the two years they had known each other. she was getting a little suspicious of them, but she knew it couldn't be too bad right? they are young girls, she was one too. 

time passed by and the two girls emerged from their room after having their baths and getting dressed, she looked at the pair and couldn't help but smile softly. she was a very proud mother, nothing could change that. the girls sat down to eat their breakfast, but something stood out to Ume, they were sat beside each other instead of opposite each other.

"So" Ume started "Do you girls have any plans for today?" she asked. Mei shook her head as did Yuzu afterwards.  "Well if you girls want, we can go shopping? I haven't taken you both out properly since when we first met Mei, you both have been quite busy over the past year or so" she had missed spending real time with her girls, they meant the world to her and she wanted to show that. the duo looked at each other before looking at Ume.

"That'd be great, mama!" Yuzu answered happily, she had missed spending time with her mom, but all the issues with Mei took up a lot of her time so she wasn't able too. Ume was glad her girls had wanted to do this too, she could tell that Mei was willing due to the shared glance. 

after breakfast, the trio set off on their trip to the mall. slowly moving from one store to another, Yuzu suddenly asked to be excused. as she headed off to find the nearest restroom, Mei followed. Ume had noticed but didn't think much of it, she just thought that they were going together so they wouldn't get lost.

Ume wandered around and before too long, got worried that the girls were lost, so she went to find them. as she looked around, she noticed the sign leading to the restrooms. once she neared the restrooms, she saw two figures tucked away, clearly sharing a kiss. it wasn't til Ume walked by that she had noticed who the figures were, it was her daughters! Ume approached the two and cleared her throat.

"what's going on here?" Ume asked calmly not wanting to make a scene in public, Yuzu and Mei pulled apart quickly, both of them blushing darkly. this was going to be hard to explain.

"M...mama... please let me explain" Yuzu plea as she looked at Ume.

"You have 30 seconds," Ume said sternly, feeling very confused by the whole ordeal. Yuzu felt a little bit panicked.

"I have had a crush on Mei since the day I met her and over the last few months Mei and I have been dating due, it is why I was hurt by Mei leaving and it is also why Mei asked you to not tell me about her forced wedding and engagement..." Yuzu looked down after the confession, she gave her arm a gentle rub before hearing her mom sigh.

"this is a lot to take on board... I'll need time to think about it... but if afterwards I don't approve, you both break up and sleep in seperate rooms. got it?" Ume stated, she never liked being the responsible one, she especially didn't like stopping people from being happy, but this whole situation was very taboo and she needed to think it all over.

Yuzu was distraught, as was Mei. the two stood in silence and accepted Ume's ruling, Yuzu was worried for them both. she couldn't go back to loving Mei with none in return...
