Chapter 14: Well...?

The gentle digital clicks were all Ume could hear as she typed in Sho's mobile number, she wasn't going to admit how nervous she was about confession what she had just heard but Sho deserved to know and deserved the right to express his feelings about it. Ume paused momentarily as she looked down at her mobile, Sho's number was complete all she had to do was hit call. she could hear her own heartbeat as she stared down at the screen, courage kicked in momentarily which caused her to hit call. she couldn't turn back now.

as Ume waited quietly for Sho to answer, she tried to think of the best way to encourage him to support the young couple, no matter how hard she tried she remained clueless as she couldn't think of the best possible way. her thought process was interrupted by the phone being answered, she heard his voice on the other end.

"Hello?" Sho spoke, he sounded relaxed, he was always more relaxed when he was travelling than he was at home as he didn't have any responsibilities.

"Heeey, Tsundere" Ume giggled softly, what she called him caused him to let out a playful groan of annoyance. He couldn't help but chuckle though, it was always nice to hear from Ume.

"Hello, Ume. how are you?" He asked happily, they rarely caught up due to him travelling but he always made an effort when he could.

"I'm doing perfectly fine, I uh... wanted to talk to you about our girls though" Ume spoke nervously, she really didn't know how Sho would take it.

"What's wrong?" He was worried that one of them had hurt themselves, little did he know what Ume was about to tell him would shock him more than any type of injury.

"Before I tell you... how would you feel about our girls finally finding love" Ume questioned him carefully to not give away the secret.

"Well... I would be happy for them both, after leaving I realised that happiness is something we all need. so Mei and Yuzu would deserve a chance to be happy with their partners" Sho confirmed, even though he left a lot of responsibility with Mei he still wanted her to grow up and live her life how she wanted too.

"Well... Yuzu and Mei have found love... within each other..." She began to mumble by the end, Sho sat in shock as he listened to his wives' quiet breathing, it was a moment before he even made any kind of sound. "please don't react negatively... they need support in this matter" 

"How long have they been a thing?" Sho asked he wanted to gauge how long they had been dating so he could make his judgement. the call fell silent for a moment, Sho waited for Ume to respond.

"Little under a year..." Ume muttered quietly, Sho was acting off, almost as if he was upset.

"are they both happy?" Sho questioned, he needed to know before he could approve, Ume responded with a quiet hum of confirmation, Sho let out a sigh as he thought about the situation.

the tension built over the phone as both parties remained quiet, Sho thought about everything, he really did only want Mei to be happy but could she really be into something so taboo? if she was, at least she had found someone who helped bring out the best in her, someone who made her happy, someone who helped her resolve her problems. he remembered back to when he last visited, it was thanks to Yuzu that the father and daughter had fixed their issues with each other, he owed her enough for making everything good for Mei, maybe this could be his way of repaying the favour.

"Well...?" Ume asked him, clearly wanting a clear answer before she went any further with anything.

"If the pair of them are happy and they genuinely love each other... I'll allow it." He spoke gently, to be very honest with himself he would've prefered to give Yuzu his blessing in person so the couple could continue their relationship, but due to the travelling, this was the best he could do.  before he could feel bad about his choices, Ume spoke up.

"That reminds me, Yuzu plans on marrying Mei. She wants you their to hand Mei to her at the alter." Ume sounded pretty happy when she spoke about marriage, Sho was happy Yuzu was that serious about it. he thought for a second before responding.

"I'll happily walk Mei down the aisle. I want her to know I accept her choice" Sho said, after a short but whole hearted I love you and good bye, Ume sat on the couch with her phone to her heart. the once cold hearted man who tried to thaw its icey exterior had finally broken free and was warmer than ever, she finally understood why he needed the travel. she couldn't wait to see his face on the big day...
