It had been easy to jam that key into Carin's face, much easier it turned out, than walking after so long in a motherfucking box. Aelin stepped out of the box and took a shaky step forward. Just one foot after the other she told herself. She stumbled and felt the gaze of every fae in the room on her. Shit! She regained her balance and continued on. She supposed it was some small blessing that her hair was long enough to cover her breasts and scar covered back, but she wasn't really to concerned with that. She was more concerned with the fucker who was currently on the floor kneeling and clutching his eye. She continued making her way toward him, ignoring the whispers and soft curses of the unknown fae. She reached Carin just as the fae male dressed in a sparkling black took several casual steps toward her, stopping right in front of her, separating her from Carin and said "Before you proceed to finish what you started, please do be aware that this exquisite carpet is thousands of years old. Though you seem to be intent on staining it with this... male's blood." This man's humor at a time like this. It reminded her of how she used to be like that. And that's when it hit her. She didn't know exactly where she was, she didn't know anything. Sure she knew she was out of the coffin. And sure she knew she was in a place called Pyrinthan and their were seven courts and seven high lords, Fenrys had informed her of that much earlier. But those same high lords may want to use her just like Maeve and Cairn... And fuck she couldn't even think about what might be happening back home in Terrasen. And... And... The more she thought about her situation the more cracks that appeared in the wall she had so carefully constructed between herself and the pain, the hurt, and the reality. Finally she thought about Rowan and where he might be. Him wondering if she was alive or dead, and wondering if she was going to die just like Lyria. She kept thinking and thinking until finally that wall she made shattered and the weight of everything she'd done and where she was crashed down upon her. Aelin began to shake, and then slowly slumped to the ground. Where was she again? She thought to herself. She couldn't seem to remember. She tried to regain her sense of reality by focusing on the details she heard, saw, and felt. The footsteps of everyone in the room closing in on her, the abnormally beautiful people, and the heat. Goddamn it was hot in here. It felt as if she was burning up from the inside out. Her head began to spin, so she closed her eyes trying to regain her composure, but when she opened them she saw only fire. Fire was swallowing and burning up everything and everyone. She thought she heard the sound of screaming and people yelling at someone named Beron "to stop killing them" and for someone named Tarquin to "put out the fire," but Aelin didn't care since all she could think about was Rowan and how he would never look at her with such love in his eyes after he realized what she'd done. That was if he even loved her anymore. And even that was if they both managed to stay alive. Maybe she... no the whole motherfucking world... should burn, was the last thought Aelin had before the cool release of darkness swept over her.
Well I must admit that was a little confusing and dramatic with Aelin going slightly batshit crazy. But don't worry nothing can really hold a candle to the fire breathing bitch queen. In this next chapter I'm hoping to get more character interaction and less internal debates and struggles. Finally, if anyone has any feed back I'd love to hear it! Thanks!
