Tom was in the library. He was reading and quickly pretended to be tired. He left the library and went to the astronomy tower. He heard a whimper and a sob. It was a female.
"I don't deserve to live a life like this. I'm a monster. I killed, and I kill. What else do you want me to do. I hate everyone. I'm DEAD!" She shouted. Tom knew that voice. It was Emma Kats, she a Ravenclaw and she is in his year.
"Kats step away from the ledge." Tom said calmly. She turned and saw him. Her eyes were blood stained from crying and she was wearing a ripped dress. He then stepped next to her.
"Why are you doing this?" Tom asked.
"Why? What do you think? I'm useless. I'm don't deserve this, Tom. I hate it. I feel like this cat that keeps scratching and scratching, trying to get out of his cage. I feel dead inside." She said sobbing. Tom hated doing this, but slowly held his hand out.
"We both know we shouldn't be doing this. If you die, your loved ones will be worried and will ake without you. Haven't you thought about that?" He said. He was feeling a little bit scared.
"I have no family, Tom. They all died. Gone. Just. Like. That. It burns. One minute their there, and the next their gone." She said and quickly lost balance. Tom quickly made his move and held her waist, pulling her closer. She looked up at him.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm trying to save your bloody life." He said and pulled her away from the ledge.
"What have I done?" She said and Tom hugged her. She hugged back.
"I didn't know what I was doing, I'm scared."
"Well, Emma I felt the same way." He let her go.
"Come on, we need to get you a new dress." She didn't want to leave. She kept glancing back at the view.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" She asked while looking. Tom sighed and tried to pull her by her hand, but she wouldn't respond. She started coughing. Tom got her to the ground and picked her up bridal style. He carried her to the Slytherin dormitory. Abraxes Malfoy was there reading a book.
"My lord, I'm mean Tom. What happened?" He asked concerned about the girl in his arms.
"She tried to jump off of the building. Get her some clothes. Now." He said and Malfoy went into the boys dorm. He set Emma on the couch. She breathed heavily.
"Will I be okay?" She asked her voice hoarse. Tom looks at her. Her eyes were no longer gleaming. He sighed and kneeled down.
"I don't know, you Emma, need to rest. I'll see you in the morning." He said and she nodded. Tom sat down and watched as she slowly fell asleep. Her chest rose up and down, almost like a drum repetitively. Her beauty glistens as she sleeps. She sleeps waiting for her prince to give her a kiss.
"Why do you change me Emma Kats? You changed me the past months. You changed how I feel towards you also. I feel...........different. Change isn't a nice thing for me. I hate change, but you also did something about that to. I think you made me fall into a pit where I cannot get back up. I have fallen for you, Emma Kats." Tom said. Malfoy came and dropped of the clothes. The next day she woke up and started out as usual. Until her memory of last night came and quickly wrote a not to Tom.

Thank you for saving me, last night. I guess I was just out of my mind. Also thanks for not telling headmaster Dippet. I would have been in serious trouble. Since you do sit next to me in potions, I was wondering if you could be my study partner. To you know help me study. Thanks again.

Tom quickly got the letter and read it. He was smiling, a true smile. He really now figured out that he did like Emma. She was his, and he was hers. The two studied together until they shared their first kiss under the mistletoe at Christmas. Both of them blushed and started a new beginning, especially for Tom.
