Percy's POV
"I was thinking of singing 'Set Fire to the Rain' by Adele." Annabeth said.
"Well, you should practice." Reyna said with a huge smile.
"Yeah. Let's all go to Reyna's room so Annabeth can sing." I looked at Annabeth.
"I guess you're right." Annabeth shrugged.
We all followed Reyna into her room. Once we were all in, Reyna closed the door and we all sat on the bed. Annabeth stood in front of us like we were the audience.
"Here." Reyna handed Annabeth her phone. "It's a karaoke version. The lyrics are there if you need them, but it's just the music." Reyna explained.
"Thanks." Annabeth took the phone from her.
The music began to play and Annabeth began to sing.
"I let it fall
My heart
And as it fell, you rose to claim it.
It was dark
And I was over
Until you kissed my lips
And you saved me."It was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard. Annabeth sang with so much emotion and feeling. I could tell the song was special to her. But I didn't know why.
"But I set fire
To the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face."Annabeth's voice was so strong and just, majestic. I could listen to her all day. Her voice was perfect. She never faltered or missed a note. She didn't look at the screen for lyrics once, yet she new every lyric and note of every verse and chorus, and didn't miss a beat.
Woah. I can play guitar. I know, shocking. But if I can play guitar and Annabeth can sing, it's like a match made in heaven. Musical match, that is. This thought made me smile even wider, if that was possible.
"Let it burn."
Annabeth held the last note for about 8 seconds.
"Let it burn."
She finished the song. No one moved. I got up and began clapping. Everyone else joined in. Annabeth just stood there timidly. She wore a sheepish half smile on her gorgeous face.
God, she was so talented, but she refused to admit it. She's so modest. Another reason why I'm falling for her. Drew is always so conceded and self-centered. She thinks she's amazing at everything. If Drew could sing, she'd rub it in everyone's face. Annabeth won't admit to anything she's good at.
This is why I like Annabeth. Not Drew.
Come on Percy. You're going to have to tell her how you feel eventually. My conscience was here to remind me that I would need to tell Annabeth the truth and essentially humiliate myself because she doesn't feel the same.
As I continued to clap, Annabeth's small smile turned into the biggest grin. She was beaming at me. At... me.
Maybe she does feel the same.
I guess I'll find out soon.
Author's note
I know this is a really short chappie, but it's late and I'm tired but I wanted to update for you guys. It's currently 11:23 pm right now and I still have to read blood of Olympus. And I wanted Percy to play guitar because my brother does so... yeah. And like, I think playing an instrument is quite attractive ok.
But hope you enjoyed!
Ps. We're almost at 200 reads. You guys are crazy. Thank you. ❤️
