Annabeth's POV

The next day at school, Percy and I walked through the halls confidently, hand in hand. After last night at the beach, I was elated. I knew that Percy loved me, but just to have something to symbolize it, right there on my finger, made me really happy, though I couldn't completely explain why.

"Hey." Percy greeted the others. He was wearing a goofy grin on his face and I smiled as well.

Reyna must have noticed out giddiness because she asked, "What's up with you two?"

"Yeah." Hazel added.

Piper seemed to be the only one to notice my ring. "Annabeth? What's on your finger?" She grabbed my left hand and examined the emerald on my ring finger. "You did not."

Everyone's faces fell. Leo just looked at Percy and said, "Dude."

Percy and I laughed at their reaction. "We're not engaged."

"It's just a promise ring." Percy added.

In that moment, it seemed that everyone had remembered to breath. "Oh." Then realization dawned on Piper's face. "AWWWW. That's so cute!" She squealed. I laughed.

"This is a beautiful ring." Hazel picked up my hand much gentler than Piper had.

"You're right. This is gorgeous." Calypso leaned over my hand with Hazel.

"Wow. Who knew that Percy was capable of picking out something this nice?" Reyna said.

Everyone laughed. "I'll have you know that I'm good at some things." Percy protested.

"Your mom helped you didn't she?" Jason asked.

"Maybe a little..." Percy mumbled. He stuck his hands in his pockets, taking sudden interest in his sneakers.

"Aw, it's okay." I kissed him. He kissed back, deepening the kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck as his hands settled on my waist.

"No PDA in the hallways please and thank you." Reyna cupped her hands around her mouth, projecting her voice like a loud speaker.

I laughed against Percy's lips before pulling away.

We all started walking together.

"Okay, but if you were getting married, who would your best man be?"

Percy thought for a second. "Uh.... I'm trying to decide which guy from the football team...."

"WHAT?!" Jason and Leo yelled.

Percy laughed. "Relax, Valdez, I'm kidding."

"Oh." Leo seemed to calm down. But it was short lived.

"I'd have to go with Jason."

"WHAT?!" Leo screamed. Some people sent us odd looks.

"Sorry man. I know that Jason wouldn't try to sabotage my cake, or give a really embarrassing drunken speech."

Jason smiled smugly at Leo, and Leo just glared at the blonde. It was pretty funny. I laughed.

"Oh, you think it's so funny, Chase, than who would be your best woman?" Leo asked.

I burst out laughing, as did everyone else. "It's maid of honor, babe." Calypso  corrected.

"Oh." Leo turned bright red.

"Well, my maid of honor would be Piper. I've known her the longest and she's more like a sister, but I still love all of you guys." I looked at my friends. They all seemed to agree. "And you guys would so be my bridesmaids." I added.

"Well, of course!" Hazel said.

And we all walked to class, talking and laughing.

And I thought about what a marriage with Percy would be like. What a future with Percy would be like. To have little ones with blonde hair and green eyes running all over out big house that I would design myself. To grow old together and watch our kids grow up. Graduate high school and college, get married and have kids themselves.

And it would be perfect. And in that moment, there with my friends,

everything was perfect.

But, thank you so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so much. I also had my last volleyball game last night. it was playoffs and we won the first set, then lost the second and third. but my team played amazingly and it has been a great season. I was moved up from the girls junior varsity to varsity bc they needed more players and i was a really good player, though im in sixth grade.
