CHAPTER 23: Taciturnity

The night when the signal came back, Beca went straight to their HQ. Not bothering what would she witnesses there, she needs to talk to them or at least Ashley. She really needs her help this time to convince Jessica about guarding and taking care of Chloe again. Maybe, this time Jessica would not do anything stupid coz first Chloe's already free from her but still not to Genesis so she better be not do anything like what she's thinking.

When she came in, she was met by all the reapers except Emily.

"How's Chloe?" Aubrey asked, going back to her computer.

"None of your business." Beca retorted and Aubrey just smirked. "Ashley can we talk?"

"She already texted me the details, Beca." Jessica suddenly spoke. Beca frowned at her, totally confused of what she's talking about. "I know what you're going to tell to Ashley."

"Oh." Beca reacted and sat to the couch next to Amy. Jessica discreetly wink at her but Beca just ignored it. "Okay, but that's not really I'm going to tell Ashley."

Jessica looked at her intently, examining her facial expression. She's definitely lying. "Oh, okay."

Ashley frowned at the two who's obviously having a staring battle at the moment. They're more like having a telepathy talk with just their eyes. Suddenly Beca turned to her, "Can we?"

"Sure." Ashley said and stood up. She went outside the door and waited for Beca. When Beca came out, she immediately spoke. "What's happening?"

"I got a news about Lee. The operation was successful. They didn't want to use Peter's eyes after I sent them his lab test so they replaced it with more perfect ones." Beca gladly said and Ashley eventually smiled at her.

"Finally, she's going to see the world." Ashley said whole-heartedly. She's very overwhelmed about the lady she met few months ago, she didn't know that she's going to be a big help about identifying the Genesis head's voice.

"But the bad news is she needs to still undercover a therapy on how to identify things such as color, shapes, and stuffs so she won't be that dumb, you know. She's blind since birth so it's really hard. It will just take months, maybe 6-8 months. Something like that."

"It can't be that long, Beca. We can't identify Genesis Head on time if that take so long." Ashley whispered enough to hear by Beca. Beca pressed her lips together as she began to think. They really can't take that long if Genesis target was now Chloe. She can't be in harm while they're waiting. They also aren't sure if they will really identify him by using Lee.

"Okay, do you wanna check her out tonight? I'm sure she's still awake, they told me she's not sleeping since she wake up from the operation. She's so excited to see you." Beca said that warmth Ashley's heart. Having Lee on her life was like having a sedative from all the worse things that happening. She's so calm and all the time she was with her, just staring at her, makes her wonder how can someone survive without seeing and hearing sense, just feeling.

For someone like Ashley, she's not believing something she couldn't see but when she found Lee, everything change. Seeing her blind made Ashley realized that you must believe on what you feel other than anything else because everyone can lie using their tongue and action but not everyone can lie on what they could feel.
