After school today

My dad still isn't home yet.

I'm worried I called him ten times. He hasn't called me back.

I'm just sitting here, reading this new book. The Fault in Our Stars. I hear it's really good.

1 week later.

My dad still isn't home I'm really worried. I haven't been to Ethan's in awhile because I have my own problems.

And I finished reading the fault in our stars and it literally killed me inside.

I go out and check the mail. I get a letter telling me the payment is next month. What? Who payed the bill?

I also get a letter from a secret address.

I open it, it reads.

Dear Ally,

I know you're probably confused. I am in rehab. I know I've been a drinker and you don't like to admit that, but I'm getting help. I need you to find a place to live The house will still be ours when I come back but for now you can't stay there. I will be gone for 5 months. Working on my physical and mental health.

-Dad.

I can't believe it, I'm glad he's getting help but, now I lost my mom and I lost my dad for 5 whole months.

Where am I going to find a house for five months.

I need to get a job so I can buy food. Man working sucks.

During school I try and focus on grades. I've been skipping lunch and eating in study hall.

So I haven't been with my friends in awhile. I've been searching for a job everyday after school.

It's thanksgiving in 3 days, and I don't know what I'm going to do. The rest of my family lives on the east coast.

I hear someone knocking on the door.

" Well,well,well who do we have here." He says smiling.

" Oh, little miss try and find a job." I say gloomy.

" Why do you need a job?" he asks.

" Can I tell you something?" he just nods. " Well my dad is going to be out of town for awhile so I need some extra cash. And a place to stay.

"Oh how long will he be gone?"

"5 months." I say.

" What 5 months?" he asks shocked.

"Yes."

"Well why don't you come live with me?" He says.

"Really? Your parents would actually be ok with that?" I ask.

" Yes. Probably, we have 2 extra bedrooms. I'm sure you can take the one next to mine. Why is your dad going to be out of town for so long?"

" He is going into rehab." I say.

" Oh well, I'm sure my mom will be fine with it let's go ask." he says excited.

" I have to go give the ice cream shop my resume." I say.

"I'll drive you there after we ask my mom."

"Ugh."

We go to his house and his mom is in the kitchen making dinner.

" Hey mom can I ask you for a huge favor?"

" Sure anything honey." his mom says sweetly.

" Can Ally stay with us for awhile?" he asks.
