I wake up and I sit in bed. I've been working at the ice cream shop but business is slow, because it's winter.
Christmas is coming up, one of these days, and I got Ethan's mom a necklace and his dad a watch, for taking me in. I also got Ethan a promise ring but I don't think I'm going to give it to him, because I don't think he wears rings. They weren't super expensive but still look nice.
I've been stuck on what to give Ethan but I think it will all work out when the time comes.
I hear footsteps and Ethan opens my door, runs in, and jumps on me.
" Really? Again?"
"Hey it's Christmas!"
" You sound like a little kid. Wait what did you say?"
" It's Christmas! Come on let's go down stairs." he says.
" It's already Christmas?" I ask.
" Yeah? Did you forget?" he asks.
"No of course not, just let me grab my stuff and I'll meet you down stairs in a minute." I say. He says ok and walks down the stairs.
I still haven't gotten him a present. I grab his parents presents, and his ring just in case I don't think of anything else.
I run downstairs and see the tree that we had decorated.
I see everyone sitting on the couches, so I sit down next to Ethan.
Ethan's parents give him a hundred dollars, a heavy duty jacket, and a 200 dollar gas card.
"Mom, Dad thanks, I'll need the gas money."
" Here dear." his mom hands me a small box.
" You didn't have to get me anything. Keeping me here is gift enough."
I open the box and see a gift card for a fancy restaurant, I've never heard of, and perfume.
"Thank you. Here is your gift."
I hand his dad a box and his mom a box.
" Oh how nice." his mom puts on the necklace.
His dad puts on the watch. "Thank you so much." his dad says.
" Here is your present." Ethan says handing me a little square box.
I open the box and see a little green sea turtle necklace.
" Oh my gosh Ethan I love it." I hug him and put it on. "And I will give you your present when we go to this restaurant." I say holding up the gift card.
" Okay." he says.
After we are done eating breakfast me and Ethan go upstairs.
" Hey when's your birthday?" I ask.
" September 22" he says.
" Dang I'm younger than you." I say.
" Why? When's your birthday?"
" December 31." I say.
" December 31th? That's in like 5 days, and New Year's Eve. How come you didn't tell me?" he says.
" You never asked, and I never do anything for my birthday anyways. Just watch the ball drop." I say.
" But this is your sweet sixteen. I'm a guy but even I know this is a big deal."
"Ok, you can throw me a party." I say.
" I'm not throwing you a party there isn't enough time but we can go out that day." he says.
