changes part 2

chapter one

Its been almost a year since ponyboy curtis lost his hearing. Darry got him enroled in a special school for the hearing impaired. Pony's doing so well, he's keeping up with his grades and his signing is coming along real well. His big brothers and their friends have all been learning to sign so pony never gets left out of conversations. In fact the only time they don't use sign is when its not for little ears.

Pony was watching the tv screen'not that he could hear' to him it was like watching a Charley chaplin movie. He liked to imagine what what the characters would be saying to each other. Sometimes he'd burst out laughing. The guys would look at him strange but were glad to see him happy. He was so into the show he was watching that he didn't notice darry get up to open the front door.

"So the prodical brother finally decides to return home after what 10 years" darry stated looking up at his older brother. "Hey little brother, its been a while" bobby curtis exclaimed. Soda came in from the kitchen. "Bobby oh my god is it really you" he said hugging his big brother. "Yep in the flesh".

Bobby noticed the young kid lying on the lounge room floor. "Wow is that my baby brother?" "Man he was still in diapers when i left. Hey ponyboy" ponyboy didn't respond. "Stubbon little shit" bobby joked. "Actually bobby, he can't hear you, pony almost drowned 12 months ago and ended up losing his hearing" darry explained.

Soda tapped pony on the shoulder, "pony" he signed, "this is our big brother bobby". Pony stood up and stood next to darry. He never even new he had another brother. No one ever mentioned it to him. "Can i go to my room?" Pony signed to darry. "Sure i'll come get you for dinner" darry sugned back.

"Don't worry, he'll warm up to you. It took him 6 months to finally get him to go to school for the deaf" darry said ligtly punching his older brother.
