THEY WERE CELEBRATING Bridget's birthday at some rented-out restaurant in L.A. Most of the MCU Cast had shown, if they were in town, and a couple more of her favorite celebrities were there, the ones Chris had connections too anyway. It made Bridget happy, which in turn, made Chris happy.

Chris stood off to the side with his arm around Carmen's waist as they conversed with Anthony and Sebastian. He smiled every time he heard his fiancée laugh and often pressed loving kisses to her cheek, or whispered in her ear that he loved her. She would whisper right back that she loved him too. It was truly a never ending cycle for the two.

"Mom!" Bridget shouted, running to her mother and startling her. "I just met Mark Ruffalo!"

Carmen smiled, "That's great, mija. I still need to meet him."

"He's a cool dude, isn't he?" Chris laughed, pulling his step-daughter into his side for a hug.

Bridget nodded excitedly, "He is! I can't believe I just met Fluffalo!"

"What's it like living with Chris?" Anthony asked, squeezing Bridget's shoulder. "He treatin' you and your mama right?"

She giggled and nodded, "The perfect gentleman, don't worry, Mack." Bridget grinned and glanced at Chris. "I'm actually glad that he wanted to step up and be my dad."

Chris smiled, leaning down and placed a kiss to the top of Bridget's head. "I love you, kid. Happy birthday. Sucks I couldn't be there for the first sixteen years."

"I know," she nodded, "But you're here now and that's all that matters. You stayed when he ran, you make my mom happy and you love us."

He smiled again, pressing another kiss to her forehead before she ran off again. Carmen smiled softly, gently squeezing his hip in her grip.

Anthony sighed and Sebastian rolled his eyes, groaning in playful annoyance. Chris grumbled, quickly flipping his friends off as he kissed his fiancée, just in spite.

"Just get married already," Anthony muttered, "Seeing you both in love is gross."

Sebastian laughed and turned to Anthony, "Says the man whose married."

"But in all seriousness," Anthony commented, rolling his eyes again. "Marry her, fast. Carmen's a keeper and that girl of yours is a darling. You're a good father."

"He is," Carmen agreed, smiling up at Chris. "Isn't he?"

"You flatter me, woman." Chris whispered, kissing her cheek and holding her tightly against his body. Then he joked, "I sure hope that I'm a good father. I've got Bee then my own coming in just a few months."

Sebastian grinned, wiggling his eyebrows. "Names and godparents yet?"

yikes, heavy dialogue chapter, but it's cute and fluffy and i'm happy with it. just another calm before a new storm. 😬😭
