real life.
CHRIS ALWAYS KNEW that Carmen could've done better than him, and that she could've chosen a person who didn't bring so much drama around with him. Ever since she said yes to marrying him, he made sure to always tell her how grateful he was and how much he loved her. Especially now, with all the drama and whatnot, plus the fact that she was carrying his baby. She was due home at any moment when he lit the candles in the kitchen and laid out dinner for the both of them. While she went out with Anna for the day, Chris shooed his mom and Bridget across town to see Scott. He needed this night to show appreciation to the love of his life, his fiancé and the woman who would be bring his child into the world. Frankly, Chris was still head over heels in love with Carmen and always would be, he thought truthfully.
It hadn't been long after he laid out dinner and put the dogs outside that Carmen had come home. He grinned as she called out his name and sauntered into the kitchen with a bag on her arm, but stopped abruptly in the doorway when she saw the kitchen.
"Chris?" She questioned softly, and slowly looked up to meet his gaze. "What's this?"
He chuckled and moved around the room to greet her. He gently took the bag from her and laid on the counter, then wrapped her up in his arms.
"It's just us tonight, for a few hours anyway." Chris answered, and kissed her cheek sweetly. "Wanted to show you my appreciation, how much I love you." He muttered.
Her hands felt cold upon his skin when she cupped his face gently, feeling the scruff underneath her fingers. She gave a sugary-sweet smile before leaning up and kissing him.
"You're the best," Carmen whispered, "I love you."
"I love you too," Chris hummed, "Now let's eat. Mom told me you've been craving pasta, and frankly I'm starving."
Chris lead her towards the table and pulled out her chair for her, pressing a kiss to her cheek as she sat. Then he did the same, and sat on the opposite side of the table. They fell into a chatter quickly as they began to eat, well it was more of Chris listening to her talk about her day. As much as they tried to avoid the topic, the topic of the article regarding their family came up again.
Carmen sighed, twirling the pasta around her fork. "Tell me our lawyer thinks we're gonna win."
Chris smiled, "She says it's a good chance. They're likely to call close friends and family to testify for us, and call Bridget to the stand. She said it's ultimately Bee's choice."
"That's reassuring, definitely." Carmen agreed, "I wish this was all over, honestly."
He stood up, completely forgetting dinner, and took his woman's hand. Chris got her to follow him to the other room, and watched as he turned on the stereo. She grinned at him when he turned around. His hands rested softly on her waist and pulled her against his body with a kiss.
"We are gonna forget the real world tonight." Chris whispered as he began to sway softly to the music with his favorite girl in his arms. "Because, you are my world. You, Bee, and our baby."
Carmen melted in his arms, and she couldn't deny the fact that she was so thankful to have fallen in love with him. They fell into the rhythm of the music, and with her arms wrapped around him, he laid his head into the crook of her neck and hummed softly as he pressed soft gentle kisses to her skin. Nothing could be better, she thought, and he thought the same. Things were always so good when they forgot the world for the night, or even for a couple hours.
This was everything they had both prayed for; someone to love them despite everything and through everything.
"I love you, Christopher."
He smiled and hummed, "I love you too, my princess."
