"Are you still angry with me, Princess?" Prince Maximilian asked me on the way to the palace.
Ignoring him, I kept looking out of the window.
Yeah, I was angry with him because he had deceived me. All this time, he had known that I would try to escape, but he acted as if he didn't know anything. And what made me angrier was because he had read my mind without my permission.
"Please Mirabelle, I'm so sorry." He held my hand that I put on my lap.
I pushed his hand away angrily. "I told you not to call me Mirabelle again! My name is Rosanne."
"Alright, Rosanne. I'm sorry. I forgot. Please don't be angry with me again, okay?" he persuaded me.
I ignored him again.
"If you forgive me, I promise I will take you to meet your family in London after we get married. What do you think?"
"Who says I want to marry you?"
"It's the only way, Rosanne. I can't do anything now because King Bellamy is still your guardian. But after we get married, you will become my responsibility. So I will be free to do anything with you, and the king can't stop us," he explained.
"So you promise you're going to take me back to London after we get married?" I asked.
"Promise." He held out his pinky finger.
I linked my pinky finger to his and we exchanged a smile.
After 30 minutes ride, we finally arrived at the palace. Turning off the engine, Jasper got out of the car, and after that, he opened the back door for us.
As I and Prince Maximilian climbed out of the car, Jasper hurried to the trunk, opened it, and pulled out all of my shopping bags.
"Jasper, please bring Rosanne's shopping bags to her bedroom and the groceries bags to the kitchen!" Prince Maximilian ordered.
"No," I disagreed, "you should take the groceries to my room too, Jasper, because I don't want my food get contaminated by blood."
Prince Maximilian rolled his eyes. "You heard her, Jasper. Bring everything to her room now!"
"Alright, Your Highness." Jasper bowed his head and in a blink of an eye he disappeared.
I gasped with surprise. "Oh God he scared me!"
"Don't worry! You'll get used to it soon." Prince Maximilian reassured me with a grin.
"Yeah, I hope I would get used to it soon or else I could get a heart attack if he kept doing that in front of me," I grumbled.
The prince chuckled. "Let's go inside, shall we? It's getting late."
I nodded. "Okay."
Prince Maximilian and I walked into the palace. Once we were inside, we were welcomed by Sigmund. From his expression, I knew that he was furious right now.
"Where have you been?" He asked angrily.
Before I could reply, Prince Maximilian spoke first, "Relax, Man! I just took Rosanne-- I mean Princess Mirabelle to go around the city."
"I didn't ask you," he talked to Prince Maximilian rudely.
The vampire prince snorted in annoyance.
Sigmund turned to me and repeated his question, "Where have you been, Princess?"
"Prince Maximilian has told you, right? We were just going around the city," I replied.
"Did the king know you went out with Prince Maximilian?" He narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
"Of course he did," Prince Maximilian answered for me, "I had asked his permission and the king allowed us to go out."
"You should have told me first if you wanted to go out of the palace, Princess. You know, it's very dangerous for you to wander around the land full of vampires alone," Sigmund reprimanded me.
"But I didn't go out alone," I defended myself, "I went with my future husband and his bodyguard, Jasper."
"But it's still dangerous. I don't trust this spoiled vampire prince and his bodyguard can protect you." He pointed to Prince Maximilian.
The prince glared at him.
"You're lucky no one tried to attack you," Sigmund continued, "so you could come home safe and sound. But next time you want to go out, you must tell me first, and I have to go with you. Do you understand?"
"Yes," I said.
"You shouldn't be this overprotective towards Princess Mirabelle, Sigmund. She's not your mate," Maximilian said fiercely.
"She's not yours either," Sigmund mocked him.
"Not yet," Prince Maximilian said through clenched teeth, "But we're getting married soon, so Princess Mirabelle will officially be my mate."
Sigmund clenched his fists in anger, but said nothing.
Taking advantage of the situation, Prince Maximilian held my hand and led me away from Sigmund.
"Maximilian?" I said.
He stopped walking and turned to me. "Yes?"
"I'm confused. My grandfather and you said that I was your mate, but why did Sigmund say that I wasn't?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Take no notice of what he said!" Maximilian answered firmly, "He just envies of me because I have a mate. Meanwhile, he hasn't found his mate yet, and the woman whom he loved died many years ago."
I frowned. "What's wrong with the two of you? Why does it seem that you don't like each other?"
"It's a long story," Prince Maximilian replied, "Maybe I'll tell you later, okay?"
I was still curious, but I didn't want to force him, so I just nodded my head.
"Let's go to your bedroom now! You must be exhausted," he said.
"Okay," I responded.
Finally, we walked to my bedroom. The guards who were standing in front of my room opened the door for us, and we went inside soon.
I noticed all of my shopping bags and groceries were already on my bed, but I didn't see Jasper anywhere. Maybe he quickly left after putting them here.
"Noapte bună şi vise plăcute!" Prince Maximilian said.
"What does it mean?" I asked, didn't understand.
His lips curved into a smile. "It means good night and sweet dreams!"
"Oh I see. Good night, Future Husband." I returned his smile.
At last, he walked out of my bedroom and shut the door after him.
